We are in the Rocky Mountains today near the city of Fernie
to fish these beautiful rivers for cutthroat trout, whitefish and bull trout.
This type of fishing is much like the fishing we find in Jutland
where people fish in small rivers with fly.
The difference is that it is much easier to catch fish here because fishing pressure is lower and there are more fish!
There is a fish!
This seems like one of the bigger ones!
There is another one!
Oh there is one!
This is also a whitefish.
Nice fish!
If I could just get a hold of him...
They are very squirmy these whitefish!
There we go!
Nice size.
I am just gonna let him go again.
If I can get the hook out...
There is another one!
Aye! It popped off!
This is the problem with fishing in the mountains.
You can't quite be certain of the weather!
Right now it is raining like crazy and we also got some hail going on.
So we are gonna sit in the car for a little while and wait for it to hopefully stop...
..before we try to fish the river again.
I have no idea how long this will take.
Looks like it stopped!
and the sun is shining!
Look at all the steam on the road from the rain.
It's quite something!
So what I am using is this little fly.
This one here is a little worn...
but it works just fine!
That was fast!
First cast!
This is what we are after!
Nice cutthroat trout!
Beautiful fish. I think they are really nice!
There we go! First cast!
Oh there is a fish!
Lets see if I can keep it on.
Ah I think this is a small one.
It is a cutthroat.
I don’t know if you can hear all the thunder behind me...
There is a storm on the way, so I am stressing a bit!
Another really nice cutthroat trout.
And if you notice the red marks here – this is why it is called a cutthroat trout.
I am just gonna release him again.
Nice fish!
I think that is gonna be our last fish today because there is a storm rolling over the mountains over there...
...and it looks a bit threatening, so we better get back to our car before it hits!
