Hi my name is Chell Garcia-Trias and I am a modern dance instructor in Austin, Texas.
I am going to show you how to do a backward shoulder roll the way that I like to do it
in modern dance. So you can start from standing up or laying down it's up to you. Usually
I start from sitting down and what you are going to do is roll onto your back. You are
going to reach out with your, for me it is my right arm, whichever arm is more comfortable
for you, out with your right arm and you are going to tilt your head to your left side
then you are going to kick up with your left leg and push through the heel to extend that
and you are going to push your right leg and extend through it to the back. It is kind
of tricky without doing it, you have to just try it. Roll back, push your arm out to the
side, tilt your head over, push your left leg up straight up to the ceiling and your
right leg way straight to the back and you are going to end up on your stomach here.
So that is a nice way that I like to do a shoulder roll in modern dance.
