Students have been welcomed to the University of Canberra with a week packed full of musical
entertainment, course advise and campus tours. A commencement ceremony was held on Thursday
to officially welcome new students to the University.
Students also enjoyed a free lunch while listening to local band, Hancock Basement.
Hancock Basement was one of several bands organized by UC Live, which coordinates events
and festivals on campus. Today in particular we’re promoting a few
things. We announced the line up for Groovin’ the Moo which is an annual festival that started
last year. We’ve also got a major international act in Dizzee Rascal coming up in March.
Students also had the opportunity to browse through Market Day stalls and take a look
at the many clubs and societies on offer at the university.
Hi guys this is the UC Press Club, It’s a brand new club starting this year, it’s
really good opportunity for journalism students but anyone can join and it’s really about
getting contacts out there networking and we’ll have Industry nights and lots of things
like that to really expand on your journalism career.
I’m from Club Tourism one of UC’s greatest social clubs. It’s not just for tourism
students though. Marketing, management, anything that falls under business government, you’re
welcome here! Hi I’m Anton I’m the Vice President of
the UC Commerce society. We’re a student society, that promotes a lot of benefits for
students, mainly who are doing Commerce degrees. There are over forty faculty, sporting, hobbies
and social clubs and societies offered on campus.
