Hi this is Kira Cogswell VanSteenkiste representing expertvillage.com you could contact me at
michiganhighlanddance.com and in this clip I will be dancing and discussing the first
step of the pa de bas dance addressing the sword. The first step of the sword is called
addressing the sword. I will beginning by showing the introduction of the sword. This
introduction that I will be showing your is called is the same introduction that I showed
in the fling and it is done by executing a 6 count battle. Counting 1,2,3,4,5,6 and rising
on count 7 and holding count 8. You will then execute two pa de bas beginning with the right
foot. Pa de bas one and pa de bas two, pa de bas three you will stand and travel to
the corner where you are hilt and making a line a line hilt and as you to absorb to meet
and you would make a beginning of a quarter of a turn. The first pa de bas you will make
a half of a turn made in the same spot. You now have to two chooses you may either execute
two pa de bas dancing pa de ba one, pa de ba two and executing four highcuts as we did
in the pa de ba highcut dance. Or you will execute a pa de ba assemble disassemble dancing
pa de ba, assemble, disassemble and four highcuts. You will then continue this three more times
around the sword each making a quarter of a turn. So the next quarter will be pa de
ba one, pa de ba two, pa de ba three, and you could make a quarter of a turn and now
you make a half turn with your body facing the opposite direction. Now you execute two
more pa de bas or pa de ba assemble, disassemble. I will be executing ba de ba assemble, disassemble
for the remainder of this set. The next quarter begins facing the back of the sword. Pa de
ba one, pa de ba two. Now you will begin making your quarter of a turn pa de ba three, pa
de ba four, pa de ba five, assemble, disassemble. Now you will begin the forth quarter.
