South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov told about prospects of cooperation with Georgia.
The head of the independent Republic noted that the change of power in Georgia, South
Ossetia's promises of change. The president said that the views of the Georgian government's
foreign policy will remain the same as under Saakashvili.
Leonid Tibilov considering the possibility of dialogue with its neighbors only when the
official recognition of the independence of South Ossetia, the genocide of the Ossetian
people, as well as in the case of the signing of the document on the nonuse of force. The
President believes that his country will be able to feel safe only in the case of accession
to Russia. This view was shared by an expert on South Ossetia Inal Pliev.
Inal Pliev, an expert on South Ossetia, "South Ossetians used to consider myself first subjects
to the throne, then the citizens of the Soviet Union. Whatever called Russia - the Russian
Empire, the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation - the residents of South Ossetia feel its
citizens. And, of course , the majority wants to becoming a part of Russia. We were citizens
of the Soviet Union and are used to, that our capital - Moscow, however called the state.
Recall that in the night of 7 to August 8 Georgian troops began shelling the South Ossetian
capital. The conflict has turned into a five-day war. It resulted in the recognition of the
independence of South Ossetia, Russia and the severance of diplomatic relations between
Russia and Georgia.
