Sakura: See you later!
Sakuras' voice echoes throughout the house as she dashes outside.
Reiji: Hey you, keep it down a little!
Sayuki: Sagara-san, I already prepared lunch for you. Take a break later and eat it, alright?
Ichigo: Ah, sorry about that. I'm about to head out now. Don't worry about it though, go on out and have some fun.
Reiji: Yes. Well than, see you later, Ichigo-san.
Ichigo: Umu, have a good time!
Ichigo sees Sayuki and I off as we leave home.
Sayuki: The sun is bright today, Nii-san. I wonder if I should have brought a hat...
I squint my eyes and use my hand as a shield as I look up in the sky when Sayuki mentions the weather.
Reiji: Maybe...
She's right, there's very few clouds in the sky, and it's a really clear blue sky today.
Indeed, a perfect day for a picnic.
Sakura: Hey, hurry up!
Reiji: First off, stop pulling on me. It's a little dangerous with Maota walking at our feet too you know.
With that, two humans walk as two dogs frolic about me in the bright sun as I carry the heavy basket.
Sayuki: Hehehe, Nii-san is pretty popular today.
Next to me, Sayuki smiles and giggles.
Reiji: If you're so envious of it, than you can feel free to take my place.
Sayuki: That load is a little too heavy for me.
Sakura: (Sings) We're all going to have a fun picnic~!
While stepping along in a suspicious rhythm, my soul begins to feel at ease. Really, Sakura's singing seems to be my weak point.
Sakura: Come on Master, sing with me!
Sakura suddenly turns around and wraps her arms around mine.
Reiji: Stupid, there's no way I'm going to do such an embarrassing thing.
Sakura: Ouchie!
Sakura: Eheehee, Master made a mistake~
Despite the fact that I had just poked her hard, Sakura's face lifts into a stupid grin as she holds her head.
Sakura: In that case, I'll get Maota to do it!
She changed her target pretty quickly, but needless to say, the result is...
Sakura: OwowowOWOW!!
Maota fiercely sinks his teeth into Sakura's hand.
Sakura: Aha, Jeez, that hurts you know~
Still, Sakura manages to keep her smile.
Let's just say that it's pointless to try and upset her good mood right now.
Sayuki: Hehe, Sakura-chan looks really happy.
Reiji: Geez...Even so, she's getting a little carried away.
Hell, just the fact that I even mentioned Sakura somehow causes a smile to come to my face as well.
Sakura: The sea!!!
Reiji: That's not the sea, it's a lake. Besides, we didn't come here to swim.
Sakura: Maybe so, but I still wanted to shout that out!
Reiji: ...
Man, I'll never understand what goes through her head.
Sakura: Than, once more...
Sakura: The meadow!!!
Sayuki: It's more like a big lawn than a meadow...
Sakura: Maota!!!
Sakura: OOOOOWWWWWW!!!
Reiji: That's what you get for shouting so loudly like that...
Sayuki: There's a lot of people here today, Nii-san.
Reiji: Ah, you're right.
Since today is a holiday, it looks like there's quite a number of families out here with the same idea as us.
Starlight Park
The whole place is like one giant area for athletic use and other things, and there's one big lake called Lake Nanami.
You can even rent a boat and go out on the lake, and because such a leisurely area like this is rare, this place is a pretty
popular date spot on the island.
Sakura: Hey, you two look like you're in a bad mood already. Maota thinks so too, don't you?
Sakura: Yup, Maota definitely thinks so.
Reiji: No, I think he just doesn't like your arm...
Sayuki: They still don't seem to get along...
Sakura: That's not true. Maota is my bestest friend! Here, I'll prove it!
Saying that, Sakura bends down and eagerly pats Maota's head...
Sakura: Good boy, good boy...*Pets*
Sakura: Hahahaha, look, I was right. Maota looks so happy! It may look a little confusing, but this is how he displays his love!
Sayuki: ...N-Nii-san, doesn't that look rather painful?
Reiji: There really are various kinds of love...I'll just leave it at that.
Sayuki: Nn...
Sayuki and I divert our eyes from the tragic scene and nod seriously at each other.
Sakura: Now than. Now that I've finished warming up, let's find somewhere to sit.
Sakura: I brought something special today, after all!
Sayuki: Something special?
Sakura: Nn. It's a necessary tool so that Maota and I can get to know each other better!
Reiji: Well, I think you two already have a mutual understanding as it is...
That is, that Maota firmly thinks of Sakura as an "enemy".
Sakura: Here it is...Ta-da!
With a needless sound effect, Sakura takes a plastic disc out of the bag she packed.
Reiji: How nostalgic. I played with something like that a lot when I was a kid.
Sakura: This is a classic dog toy!
Sakura: Right, Maota? Are you ready for me to throw it?
Already in a good mood, Sakura calls out to Maota.
However, Maota seems disinterested, and he lays down belly-up on the grass.
It seems he has no motivation. Unlike other dogs, it seems this one takes after it's owner and wants to lay about all day...
Sayuki: Nii-san...I have a feeling that this isn't going to end well.
Even Sayuki can tell how this is going to end, and a pitiful expression crosses her face.
I completely agree with her, as I feel the same way.
Reiji: Just don't do something reckless. There's other people out here after all.
Sakura: Feh, why are you two looking at me with such pitiful eyes?!
Reiji: Because...
Sayuki: Because...
Sayuki and I both turn to each other and nod seriously again.
Yes, it's just too cruel to say it so bluntly...
Sakura: Uuu...For some reason I get the feeling you two are thinking something very rude.
Sakura: Fine than. If you two don't want to play, I'll just play with Maota and prove that he can do more than just bite me!
Reiji: Yes yes, we know you're more than just a chew-toy.
Sayuki: Go for it, Sakura-chan.
Sakura: Alright, here I go!
Sakura quickly drops into a stance similar to one that a samurai would be in before he drew his sword.
She also than looks forward with a serious stare.
Sakura: Hyaaaaa!!
Shouting out something corny, Sakura pulls back and let's the plastic disc fly.
Reiji: Haa...Why in the hell am I always the one who has to do this sort of thing, geez!
Reiji: And on top of that, why did it have to get wet?!
I mutter darkly to myself as I shake the water off of the disc.
Reiji: Good grief. She just HAD to throw it with all her might. Like brute force is needed with something like that.
The disc that Sakura threw went all the way across the grass and landed in the lake.
Even if she had looked for it herself, there's no guarantee she would have found it, so I reluctantly went to look for it.
Reiji: I'm going to teach that idiot later...And she better thank me since I went to all this trouble.
I'm going to make sure she remembers this lesson for a long time.
But since this place is so open and full of nature, my bad mood gradually fades away.
I guess it's not bad to act like a little kid every once in a while.
Reiji: Hm?
Just as I was thinking that, I see someone I recognize.
However, I just can't see that person being out here like this, so I quickly pinch myself just to make sure.
Reiji: Amamiya?
Saying her name, I walk up to the woman in question who is sitting down on the grass.
