>> Hi, my name is Sherry McCurdy Smith, I'm from the University
of Illinois at Springfield.
I'm going to go with something easy,
because you took my touchy feely one.
You have to be able to give clear instructions.
And much of our communication, 80% of our communication is
that non-verbal thing.
And so I think it's hard for faculty members to put
down what they want into a written, or even oral format
that gets rid of that you know, I'm you know,
emphasizing something.
Even if you do video, the emphasis changes.
You know, you're reducing it down to a very small size.
So I'm making clear instructions, and a rubric,
the use of a rubric is really important in order to convey
to students what it is you're looking for.
And it's a wonderful step
that many faculty members never had heard of.
