Aaaaaahh... Superheroes... I love superheroes...... .......... Credits !
THE TOP FIVE OF THE BEST...
CUT ! You don't have any other ideas to begin with ?
But it was good : fast, short, clear and it announced the subject of the video
Yeah, that was also CLEARLY a piece of ***, so now you do that again with much more culture and informations, ok ?
Okkk... By the way, who the *** are you ?
-Well, I'm the cameraman
-BUT the camera never moves in my videos !
-So my work is to see that the camera is in a good place and that we can see your head !
Ok, I hope that you do your job very well
So, here's the question : why do we love so much superheroes ?
First answer : because it's cool !
Indeed, the first thing you wan think of when you say "Superheroes" is "Superpower" !
But that was before... BATMAN ! [Best montage ever !]
So at the first place, the superheroes represented those impossible things nobody can't but that were awesome to imagine
an incredible strengh, the power to fly, a power extremely outdated at this time...
..., the power to be invisible to infiltrate secret organisations, fight bad guys... Look at young women under their shower... Undress girls without to be noticed...
By the way Mr. Cameraman, are you sure that people can see my face ?
-Actually no, there is a problem we can't see your head, so wait a minute I fix this... Ok, now it's good...
And actually, all the aspect : "cool, I got superpowers, I will fight vilains and deliver princess Peach", it was totally there only in the first decades of the apparition of the word "superhero"...
... At the era of the first Superman Cartoons who were very fun to look at, with their several sterotypes and cliches, and would have made Nintendo's scenarios masterpieces as clever as Usual Suspects
But there has been of course a time when screenwhiters had to evolve from this... To this...
From basic superheroism to the one more intricate that you can find in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy or in Zack Snyder's Watchmen
And do you know who you must thank for this evolution of the function of the superhero ?
For the comics, I have absolutely no ideas, I don't know much about it, but in movies, it's actually Sam Raimi and his Spiderman Trilogy that you must thank
Yes, it's in the beginning of the XXIrst Century that the director of Evil Dead... No, not the new one with people dying everywhere, the original with people dying everywhere...
... Makes an cinematographic adaptation of the spiderman and gives us mature comic book movies that makes ask ourselves about what is really heroism
... And by the way everybody remember THE line of the three films :
"From great power comes great responsibility"
Thanks Uncle Ben
These films have also showed a very good human aspect in the superhero movies...
And like I always said, in every tall slip is hidding a little ***, so in every great costum is hidding a man with his problems
Why so much vulgarity ? You disgust me...
Buuut... Scatologic humour brings the public, no ?
Yeah but who's interested in dicks ?
Well... For example thirty years old women are very interested in it...
Oh, yes, now I understand why NOBODY WATCHES YOUR VIDEOS !!!
IT WAS THE CLASH OF MARK THE *** !
Well, I digress, but to my point of view the spiderman movies aren't masterpieces, especially the third one that shows you how much Sam Raimi is losing his inspiration in these times
So, what you have to conclude from the Spiderman Trilogy is the fact that she's a little bit underrated in the way she made evolve first the superhero movies...
... a fact too much assigned to Christopher Nolan...
Cause yeah, you know what follows : if there exists superhero movies that have turned all the critics around the world crazy and hit the box-office, it's the Dark Knight Trilogy from Nolan
But now I'm gonna stop talking about a subject I will really interest in other videos
NOW, after this long retrospective about this era when superheroes movies began to become more and more mature, we can finally start this Top 5 of the Best Superheroes MOVIES !!!
Number Five ! : X-Men 2, directed by Brian Singer
And by the way I will do a little retrospective about X-Men Movies
And here you have a very personal choice, because I don't think that this film was specialy acclaimed in the whole world when he first came out
And I find this strange because I easily place the first and the second X-Men in these movies that have brought a mature image of the modern superhero
And this without to forget all the aspect "Entertainer" and "Hollywood fast-food" of the thing
For example one of the defaults of the first opus was that Bryan Singer was at his first action movie
And that by the fact there was some things a bit clumsy in the action sequences, even if Singer was still very talented...
Yeah... Very talented...
Another thing a bit clumsy : a scenario... Not perfect, I'll say...
but for me all this defaults were removed in X-Men 2, because I consider that Bryan Singer directed the Terminator 2 of the superheroes movies with this film
Everything is improved in this second opus : The action, more violent and with a great balance between spectacular and intimate stuff
..., The mature aspect of the movie, the story which brings us some explanations about the past of Wolverine
But not totally... Some talented people have to do it...
Because... Yeah, I must tell you about what the franchise became after this, I must tell you about the third movie... Oh God he's absolutely Awfull !
With another pathetic director the ridiculous action sequences became much more important than things like a solid plot... Or characters
And the famous lesson about the acceptance of the differences, that are in this case particular because the characters are mutants with great powers...
... It covered also some other interesting themes, like the racism... Well, mature things you understood...
How did the first films made it with these particular themes ?
With the principal female character, whose power is to absorb vital energy at each contact with a human being, or steals his power when she touches another mutant
... Which means she can't touch anybody...
Is this annoying because she can't have sex ?
SEX JOKE OF THE DAY
No, it's a real handicap because it rejects her from the outside world and annhilates each social contacts with others
Well, now let's see how is it made in the third one... AS A *** PRETEXT, no subtlety, the mature themes are spread to you like a hammer smashing your head again and again...
And it's more and more annoying while the film continues playing...
And a hammer, it hurts...
After the first X-Men Trilogy, Marvel Studios entered in a bad *** trip : "ORIGINS OF THE WORLD, GOOD EVIL AND DEAAAATH !!!"
And movies projects have increased so much that X-Men was going to become an entire universe in Marvel Studios universe
... But totally disconnected from Avengers Universe
X-Men Origins Magneto, X-Men Origins Cyclope, X-Men First Class, X-Men 4, X-Men Origins "Unknown Actor" of X-Men 2.5... Etc.
For the moment there has been only tow survivors of this crazy serial project : X-men Origins Wolverine ans X-men First Class who will have a sequel coming soon with french actor Omar Sy in the casting
I hope he speaks english better than Jean Dujardin
Wisse plissure !!
So well, what do I have to say about Origins Wolverine ?...
I didn't find it so AWFUL...
Even if the movie totally not respect the character, it's not so horrible to watch...
But well, everybody said it was an horrible *** crap, and Wolverine will have another movie with his name in the title, and he will face Samourais !
Well, except this detail, it looks like a good movie... Wait and see...
And about X-Men First Class... *** you, I didn't watch it...
But let's finally stop this retrospective... Why X-Men 2 is the best X-Men Movie ?
Because it's the one that worked the best on his mature aspect
And it's especially an excellent entertainer, very good to see and see again
Number Four ! : Tim Burton's Batman Returns
And once again it is a very personal choice, because I'm not sure that Batman Returns is really considered even as good as his predecessor, the movie Batman released in 1989 by Tim Burton
With the crazy performance of Jack Nicholson as the joker
Now after saying that, I'm gonna tell you why I really prefer this second opus, who didn't have great critics, and didn't hit the box office like the previous one did, because of a movie too darky and not really destined to children
And here is the quality of the film : he had the benefit to receive much more personnality from his autor than the first one
And even for the "vilain" aspect, I've prefered this one
Because yes when you look closely the joker wasn't very analized : He was A BAD GUY, THE EVIL !
But for the case of The Penguin and Catwoman, it's much more nuanced
Selina Kyle doesn't know anymore the distinction between good and evil...
And the first goal of the penguin is to reconnect with the world that has from the day he was born rejected him because of his differences
I know it's again a question of reject and differences, but it's au superheroes's constant, so whathever
We're also again talking after X-Men 2 about a sequel who knew how to improve the maturity of the film
And even if Batman's character is once again never really analized like a complex main character he should be...
But actually you don't really watch these tow Burton's films and others creations from him for their heroes, but for the almost-touching freaks gallery they present to you
And so it's especially all the vilain's psychologic aspects that are great in Batman Returns
And even if The Penguin becomes at the end of the movie a basic vilain "I'm gonna kill babies !"
... I liked the ambiguity of the character
And if you add to all this improved action sequences from Burton, a great imagery, and a very good horrific christmas tale atmosphere in which Burton has always been the best
I don't know if you remember these tow films...
You've got here a movie that to my point of view totally deserves his place in this top, not in the top 3 but as the fourth best superhero movie ever !
But IS IT THE BEST BATMAN MOVIE ???? Suspeeeeense... Well, not-really-Sussspeeense-but-who-cares...
Number 3 : The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon
Hell yeah, here's a movie that has scared everybody, waited as the christ would be waited by Millions of Comic-Book fans, why ?
Because it was the first, amazing and almost absurd reunion of 5 Marvel Superheroes !
So you gessed it, it was clearly not a film to *** up for the future amazing projects of Marvel Studios
Because yeah, if you remember I told you about a Marvel Universe... Indeed Marvel Studios will release mot of his films as new Avengers films's preparation
The Phase 1 is over, she completed herself with The Avengers, and the Phase 2 just began
They had to make a reboot of a franchise whose the autor wasn't ready to follow and to fall into Mega Blockbuster like a new Avengers movie will be, The Amazing Spiderman was born !
I say that because I think that Spiderman will be in the next or one of the next avengers movies, that's why I fix him in the Phase 2, for the moment
And recently Iron Man 3 was released as the official beginning of the Phase 2
But well, let's not talk too much about THE FUTURE, let's talk about THE PRESENT to look at the great film that Avengers is
But to keep a suspense for my critic of the movie, because I like suspense, let's dive in THE PAST and let's do a Retrospective about all the Marvel films in the Phase 1
Well, now we are in 2008...
... The year when the first Iron Man came out, and marked the beginning of the Phase 1 and I'M ON MY PERIOOOD !!
So Robert Downey Jr. is the main actor for his great come back after his alcohol problems in the beginning of the XXIth Century
... And it's with a great talent that we can find him back in a great role as Tony Stark, the rich and excentric hero who's gonna thread the armor
And it's all the excentricity and the humour of the character that do the principal qualities of Iron Man
This one is extremely entertaining and effective, John Favereau gave us a solid movie
the same year after the sympathic movie "Hancock" which had unfortunately a bad script and a bad direction
... Incredible Hulk came out, directed by our french and SO TALENTED Louis Leterrier, a total reboot of the character after the piece of *** of Ang Lee, the Hulk of 2003
... That had the problem to metaphorise too much the character...
Metaphorise : This word doesn't mean anything...
... When everybody was waiting for a typic action movie...
So what came out of this was *** on both size : Philosophy AND action sequences, with a final battle totally incomprehensible !!
The 2008 version is much more accessible, and... To my point of view, it's not a very good movie, but I like it mostly because of a too rare Edward Nortan, who's got a romance with Liv Tyler
She met him at a strange point of his existence... [Rule number 1 of a review : You do references about Fight Club ; Rule numer 2 of a review : You ALWAYS do references about Fight Club]
So what we've got here is again a sympathic entertainer, with differences reject themes, etc. let's stop repeting everything...
In 2010 came out Iron Man 2, a film too slow and not dynamic enough that had the good idea to make references about Robert Downey Jr.'s past by diving into health problems of Iron Man...
... But it's *** everywhere : *** on the scenario, *** on the character, *** on the film...
In 2011, tow other movies whose I don't care at all came back : Thor and Captain America... I havn't seen them. Why ?
Because I totally don't care, you're like the main character of Memento or you're just stupid ??
And finally in 2012, The Avengers came out and with its release french fries... Oh sorry, and with its release a masterpiece of the hollywood entertainer that you can just qualify perfect on every aspect...
... Making of him one of the greatest childish blockbuster of these last years
And the word "childish" is perfect to describe the general atmosphere of the movie : it's fun, it's relaxed, it doesn't anything too seiously...etc.
But it is SO well thinked, so well made, so well put together
MARVEL Studios had the excellent idea to hire a real story creator as the person of Joss Whedon
Everything sticks like a finger in *** blood...
Well, let's take another example...
Everything like a finger in butter... Yes, butter...
And the film doesn't forget at all to make a good exploitation of the great personnality that are in it
... In their psychological aspects and in the birth of their team
More the film continues, more you can see a real spirit of helping each other and a real completion between the members of the group
Some of you may think it's not enough, but for me it's very well done and you just can't be bored during 2 hours and a half with these personnalities
Of course, the movie won't teach you great lessons about human being... But he will teach guys like Michael Bay how to do a really great blockbuster
Because it's especially with his amazing action sequences that the movie is almost the best : you will notice several incredible climaxs with a final battle ultra-explosive in a city
For me, it is the best MARVEL Studios movie
God, I will have to wash my hands once in a while... Sluuuuurp...
Number 2 : Ex aequo Watchmen directed by Zack Snyder and Kick *** directed by Matthew Vaughn
Yeah, these are very similar movies, I know...
But they have at least one thing in common : they are both extremely violent
... Even if you've got from one side a crazy bloody comedy, and from the other side a nuclear war drama
Let's talk fist about Kick-***, and I can only tell you to watch my Ten-minutes critic of the film shot with an ipod and edited with Movie Maker, so now I'm gonna be fast
A great movie, a crazy patchwork with fun, awesome ideas, awesome scenes, touching character and epicness !
But now, let's get a little bit more interested in Watchmen, and strangely I totally love this film
I never get bored, I love the comic book style of the film, I love his irreverent tonality, I love the final twist that can make great debates...
...His Eighty's world with everywhere the fear of a nuclear war, his fights with not too much slow motion and extremely brutal !
For me it's the film that goes the most far in the demystification of the superhero and I LOVE IT !
Nobody believes anymore in the American Dream, some of them are sex-addict, others are radical-violence-addict
... The atmosphere is great, the movie is even not pretending itself to be realistic, and introduces to us philosophic science fiction summarized in the dramatic-enough character Dr. Manhattan... And his... Blue ***...
Ewww... Stop showing us your stick all the time, perv'...
So we've got tortured characters, an incredible cinematography, an immeasurable style, a rude violence, a radical vision of the world, and AN ALL SIMPLY GREAT MOVIEEEE !!!!
AND FINALLY, THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE OF ALL TIME IS...................
............. Catwoman, directed by Pitoff...
Yes, I know, everybody totally hates this film... He's as good as a bad ***...
But you'll have a splendid experience by watching this, because it will be the first time in your life that you will vomit and *** (Hale Berry) at the same time...
... This movie is a revolutionary product, and I will call it... VIAGLAXATIVE !!
OK, NO, I'M... KIDDING...
........... THE DARK KNIGHT, directed by Christopher Nolan
.... Are you really surprised by this ?
Does it surprise you that a movie, acclaimed in the whole world, who has totally hit the box-office with than 1Billion of dollars, and subjuguated everybody about his qualities, his intensity, his epicness, his actors, his intelligence...
The masterpiece blockbuster directed like god by Chris Nolan, between the emotionnal power and the powerful emotions, well, who's been surprised ??
But, yes, he DESERVES his first place on the top, the film that brought Nolan till the clouds of Hollywood paradise, and made him a great king of the modern entertainment...
... By making intelligent blockbusters animated by the heart and by a particular love for cinema and perfection of the direction
It is easy to qualify all the reasons of why The Dark Knight is a perfect master work
I will do a real retrospective of Nolan's Batman movies in another video, but I can tell you what I think about this one...
I love this film because there's always something happening on the screen, the plot is extremely complete with drama, psychology and emotions
Nolan made his film with a realistic and urban universe, in a post-9/11 America, who is constantely scared
And in this world the joker, as a real terrorist without real goal except having fun by sawing anarchy and crazyness
Everybody talked about Heath Ledger's performance, a real crazy interpretation
But well, let's stop here the compliments, let's reconize some defaults in the picture, but let's also reconize that The Dark Knight made us diving into a new era of superheroic films
More realistic, darker and even more mature, all this giving us a superb piece of real cinema, and more than a basic blockbuster
So it was my top 5 of the best superhero movies, and yes I forgot lots of other excellent superhero movies, I could have told you about lots of them I loved, but remember it's only my point of view, and that you can give yours in the comments below...
now don't forget that even if you smoke every day of your life...
What have you done ?
You can become a superhero... Bye !
Seriously ? "Bye" ? And the joke about Batman was just ***, come on you're doing crap, try do find a good sentence to finish the video, like The Nostalgia Critic, I don't know... Find something !
RIP VIVIEN 1, dead because he killed his schizophrenic version of him self, VIVIEN 2, cameraman... At least he will know that if you kill yourself, you die... Sometimes...
RIP VIVIEN 2, a clever man but who loved animals
RIP Bernadette, my dog who liked reading and Justin Timberlake... Died when I was trying to cook her....
And more seriously RIP Heath Ledger, who was talented everywhere, even as a Post-culture knight, even as an homosexual cow boy, even as an evil clown in Dark Knight...
