When you get to the jumping spot at the Flugplatz and turn right, you're in the air.
Then you have to brake hard once you land,
kill your speed and turn your car sharply.
When on the accelerator, the amount of throttle will determine if you slide or not.
But you have to step on it here.
It gets my heart pumping every time.
There's a section with long, climbing bends at the back.
When you do those bends in the GT-R,
the horizontal G's are incredible,
and keeping the car on the racing line is pretty hard.
If you steer even slightly too late,
you won't be able to give it full throttle.
Looking over the full lap,
you notice the stretches that place the most pressure on the car.
And the GT-R is pretty heavy at the front.
So, at the Carousel for example,
if you go straight in,
there's a huge shock to the front of the car on the right side.
So there we decided to go into it at an angle
instead of on a normal line.
At the back straight now
Roger.
Warm-up at Döttinger-Höhe.
Before the race,
I wanted to lay the wing down a bit more, or use a smaller one.
My thought was that we could probably raise the top speed,
which was about 270km/h,
by an additional 10km/h or so for the straights,
and we wouldn't lose much cornering speed.
But I don't know if that would have worked or not.
When are we pitting?
Come in to the pit next?
When the signal comes.
In the next round!
Everything is OK.
Left front is flat, left front is flat.
I'm at the Döttinger straight.
Cant raise speed
Might be the anti-roll bar.
It's rolling scarily into the fast corners.
We knew we could win if we kept it up.
There was a difference in lap time of course and 235 was gaining on us,
but at this rate we were pretty sure
we could make it.
But as soon as we thought we had it we had to make the pit stop.
Races never go exactly the way
you want them to.
It was probably rubbing against something.
I really think we won simply by luck.
But the fact that we did win proves
that the GT-R is an incredible car.
It was fast and it didn't break down.
Thank you!
Tobias, Michael, Yasukichi, Mr. Schulze.
It's incredible.
The GT-R made it though.
The GT-R's potential,
and the massive amount of time
that was invested in developing this commercial car,
is what provided the strength necessary
to win this race.
