What's in fracking fluid?
Evidently, quite a few things.
A congressional report in 2011 listed over 750 additives used in fracking
Some additives, like salt, sugar, and water are harmless
But some are carcinogens like benzene
Others are strong corrosives such as hydrochloric acid
Some are explosives such as ammonium nitrate
Others yet are known to cause serious neurological damage such as toluene
And some are highly effective biocides, such as DBPNA
These chemicals are known to leach into groundwater or enter streams through runoff. You don't want to drink that.
Protect our water. Keep the fracking moratorium in North Carolina.
