Hello, I'm Shahram Forutan
and I'm a World Champion in Powerlifting.
People asked me how I prepare myself mentally when I attend to lift a heavy Set.
I will now tell you what goes on inside of my head right before I lift a heavy set.
First I sit down looking at the weights and start focusing on it.
Then I close my eyes.
For example Squats....
...I imagine how I walk to the barbell and grip it tight...
...I go under the barbell, breathe in deeply and lift the barbell off...
I really visualize with closed eyes how I do the whole thing.
I visualize the lift off, the deep breathing, going down slowly and going up explosively.
I have to believe it. I have to see how I already did it in my eyes.
When I can see it in my head, it means I'm ready.
Afterwards I stand up and go the the barbell...
...I convert everything I visualized to reality.
I think if you visualize it right before you do it
you will really believe you did it already with success.
At this point there is no "it's too heavy".
Your brain commands "do it"
and you just do it successfully.
That worked for me over 90% of the time
and I believe in that.
