This is Amelia Smith on behalf of Expert Village and I am going to be talking to you about
the care and styling of curly hair. She has got some areas arond her hair because she
does have several different textures. On the back it is very curly whereas on the top it
is not as curly. Now there are a couple of ways that you can alleviate this. You could
go to the salon and get a body wave just through the top. You could also use a curling iron
and just hit these spots with a curling iron. Just make sure that you are using a thermal
protectant. Most of the products now do have thermal protectants in them. You see how that
just sort of adds a little bit more life up there. Of course naturally curly hair is not
the same everywhere. It is not uniform and that is how you can tell a permed head versus
a naturally curly head. So you do not necessarily want that curl to be all the same. You can
just curl half the hair. You can just curl the ends. It does not necessarily have to
be curled the same as the rest of the hair. That is going to give it a much more natural
look than if you just went through with a curling iron and curled every piece. You also
want to kind of break those curls up a little bit and how you do that without making them
explode is that you just want to pull them apart and you see how you get that separation.
That is what you are looking for in the style is a look of separation and definition.
