Debutant director Shibu Gangadharan's 'Praise the Lord' is an adaptation of the novel of
the same title by writer Zacharia. Mullathazhathe Joy (Mammootty) is a rich farmer
in Central Travancore. Though immensely rich, Joy leads a simple
life with his wife Ancy (Reenu Mathews) and two children.
In to their peaceful life enters a newly-wed couple - Samkutty (Ahmed Sidhique) and Annie
(Akamksha Puri) - who marry secretly without the permission
of their families and elope from their native place.
Problems faced by Samkutty and Annie lead to an unpleasant married life and the repercussion
of this in the life of Joy and Ancy is plotted in an interesting manner in 'Praise
the Lord'. The movie openly presents the issues and ways
of the modern generation in a satirical manner. The script is penned by T P Devarajan. In
the banner of Galaxy Films, the movie is produced by Milan Jaleel.
Mammootty's Praise the Lord, is in the news for all the reasons. But please don't get
carried away by its title. If the makers are to be believed, the movie
has nothing to do to religion or religious aspects.
Confirming the news its director Shibu Gangadharan said in an interview that his movie is not
biblical in any way. And he adds that Mammootty - Reenu Mathew starrer movie includes all
the elements needed for a commercial entertainer. In Praise the Lord,
Reenu will be seen in the role of Ancy, the wife of Joy, the character played by Mammootty.
Ahmed Siddhique and Akanksha Puri will essay the role of the couple in the movie, based
on writer Zacharia's novel of the same name. Mammotty and his fans will be eagerly praying
for the success of his new movie 'Praise the Lord' which will start running in theatres
from this weekend. The movie which will arrive on 14th carries the expectations as his last
film 'Balyakalasakhy' didn't made a satisfactory opening.
Mammooty who had a poor year in 2013, except for an Immanuel and Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus,
which managed to end up as hits, couldn't manage to find decent initial collections
for his last couple of movies including V K P 's Silence.
Praise the lord based on a story by Zakharia and directed by Shibu Gangadharan is all about
a rich, rude planter who is forced to take care of
two lovers who has eloped from their home. Scripted by T P Devarajan,
its is believed that this caretaker to love' will help Mammootty to rebond to his characteristic
family audiences. The success of this movie is also important
as his next one to release for Vishu , 'Gangster' is already voted as the movie which
is most expected in 2014. Shibu Gangadharan is all excited as his debut
directorial venture Praise The Lord is all set to hit the theaters on March 20.
The director, who was assisting the National Award winner Rajeev Nath, says that wearing
the hat of a director was not that easy. Shibu feels that the opportunity of directing
Mammootty in his debut movie is indeed a great honour and more like a dream.
He added that Mammootty was really supportive on the sets that he never felt that he is
a debut director. Shibu says that the main highlight of the
film is the combination scenes of Mammootty and Mukesh.
It is indeed after a very long time that both these actors are sharing the screen space
together. The duo has brought some great moments in
the film, which has humour in it and it is sure to make the audience laugh to riot.
Reenu Mathews plays the female lead in the film.
Shibu talks about the character played by Mammootty in the film,
"Joy is a man who has never seen real life lovers and he decided to observe a young couple
who have run away from their home. He is constantly watching them to learn real
life romance." The director says that he has made some changes
in the story from that of the novel to make it visually entertaining.
Shaan Rahman has composed the music for the film.
