How to Make a Sandcastle Cake. If you're planning a big summer bash, top it off with this cake
straight from the beach. You will need 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. graham cracker crumbs 1 c.
cookie crumbs 1 9" round cake 1 8" round cake 1 6" round cake Frosting
3 large waffle cones 2 small waffle cones 2 small cake cones Assorted candy sea shells
Graham cracker sticks Plastic bag Icing spatula Turntable or lazy Susan and rolling pin (optional).
Step 1. Combine the brown sugar, graham cracker crumbs, and cookie crumbs in the plastic bag
and shake it to thoroughly mix the sand. Crush your favorite cookies and graham crackers
in the bag using either a rolling pin or a mallet -- just don't puncture the bag. Step
2. Apply the frosting to each cake using the icing spatula and a turntable or lazy Susan
to turn the cake as you work. Step 3. Cover each cake with "sand" while the frosting is
still tacky. Don't forget to tap some along the sides for full coverage. Chill the cake
in the refrigerator to solidify the icing before adding decorations. Step 4. Stack them
from largest to smallest, slightly off center. Step 5. Erect waffle cone turrets. Invert
the large cones so the point end is up and gently press each one into the top tiers of
the cake. Step 6. Spread frosting on the inside of each cake cone and then insert the small
waffle cones with the tip up. Press them into the cake along the bottom tier. Step 7. Break
the graham cracker sticks to make rocks and then add the candy seashells. Finally, sprinkle
any remaining sand over the whole cake. Did you know Scientists have discovered that changes
in the climate are slowing turning the inhospitable Sahara desert into a lush savanna.
