My name's Eyonna Woghiren.
Hi my name is Jelani Legohn.
Nia Fauokner.
Hi my name is Christine Huy.
Hello my name is Rashad Mays.
I'm part of the of the African and African American Theme Floor
Shared interest is a compilation of different
people, different cultures, different ideas coming together on one floor.
Most of the students who live on this floor are part, identify as African American or
African and we also have other students who identify as other things.
There's all different types of ethnic floors you can live on in the dorms.
I really wasn't aware that I was going to be placed in a shared interest. I found out
the day I got my housing assignment that I was going to be living on the African and
African American culture floor. I also aware that you didn't have to African and African
American to live on the floor. But obviously I am so happy that I was placed on it.
Being here is meeting people I can connect with. There's people who are great influences.
African American, African floor really added to my perception of the culture and it positive ideas,
so it was great to see that Black people or African Americans working in the lounge
towards the same goal to be successful in this world.
Throughout my experience I learned that you should never be afraid oh who you are, you
should never be afraid of your individuality and in this program I've found that
I am so much more than just the color of my skin. I'm so much more of just a statistic and so
I'm proud to be here and always reppin' C-2.
I would totally recommend the African and
African American culture floor, obviously I am not of African descent, but I have learned
so much and I've grown so much as a person living on this floor. A lot of people get
super confused when I tell them I am here because they assume that it's an African American theme floor only African Americans
can live on it, that's totally not true and they're not the only ones that benefit from
living in the program. Really anyone can join!
I would recommend shared interest to students of all ethnicities.
To just come on the floor, not even just the African and African American theme floor, but other theme floors
and just learn different people's cultures
and just interact with people. It's am amazing. It's the best part about Davis for me.
From living on the floor I've learned that when you look around and see people the first thing you notice is differences,
but as you guys grow together, live together and learn more about each other you realize that you are very similar.
