Lily: It's being able to be a little bit vulnerable
and say I would like help with this,
and be kind of open to let somebody wanting to help you.
I think that actually can be quite challenging.
(bouncy music)
Voiceover: They are artists, innovators and media pioneers.
Famous names that are challenging the status quo.
This is Acting Disruptive.
(upbeat music)
Max: What's going on?
Lily: Hi.
(laughs)
Max: So, what is Impossible?
(upbeat music)
Lily: Impossible is a social network
that's trying to encourage a culture of giving and receiving.
There's essentially 2 things you can do on the app.
One is to post a wish,
and that's structured almost like a tweet and you say,
"I would like somebody to give me a singing lesson,
"or I would like someone to cut my hair.
"I really need help with this essay I'm writing."
Max: And then people can also post
what they're offering to the community as well, right?
Lily: Yeah and so, I might say for example,
I can teach English and I can teach yoga
or I can give advise on [unintelligible].
The idea with that is Impossible uses that information
to show me wishes that relate to what I can do.
It starts trying to make people more likely to see content
they're able to respond to.
Then the other thing you can do is say thank you.
That's the only kind of currency per se
but it's not really a currency.
It's kind of a just version of the idea of currency.
Max: How is a thank you different from a like?
Lily: You tell me.
How is a thank you different from a like?
Lily: A friend of-
in a thank you versus the like.
Lily: Yeah, I don't know.
I've never particularly liked like to be honest.
It feels like a much more easy gesture
where saying thank you I just think is such an important thing to do.
I'm a big believer in being grateful and gratitude
and showing gratitude to one another.
Max: Are there limits to what people can ask for?
Can I ask for money?
Can I ask for-
Lily: There are a few rules here.
Max: Okay.
Lily: Because that's the whole point of the space.
Not *** context and not violent content.
Similar in a way that if Instagram you can flag content that has nudity.
Max: Right.
Lily: Here you can flag content that is violent or *** or offensive or etc.
Max: Most people know you as a model and actress.
How much of your time is dedicated to the website?
Lily: I'd say most of it.
I work most days of the week
and I still do some acting and occasional projects here and there
but I tend to just fit and weave them into Impossible
being more of a day job.
Max: Can you describe the range of wishes you've seen on impossible.com?
Lily: People post like you know, I wish for world peace
or I wish that I didn't feel so down today.
This guy print, posted "I'm having a really down day on my birthday.
"I wish I didn't feel so down."
And it was just so sweet to read.
There was like 15 people responded with like
feel good quotes and messages and offers to talk.
Yeah, it's quite a myriad.
It's still so early that I feel that I can't pin it yet
but that for me validates it why I'm doing this.
Max: Well, I'd like to put Impossible to the test.
We're going to an artist who's going to give you lessons.
Lily: Yeah and I don't know this artist
and I actually don't know where we're going exactly.
My last wish I posted on Impossible was to learn how to do graffiti art.
Max: We haven't been arrested yet for filming Acting Disruptive
so today could be a first for us.
(laughs)
Lily: Hey, you have to get arrested once
if you're doing Acting Disruptive, right?
Max: We have to, yeah.
Lily: Come on.
(slow tempo music)
Corin: Pleasure, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I got a photo of you last night
and I put it through a couple programs and just teched it out a bit
Lily: Let's do it.
Corin: Yeah.
Lily: What do you want me to do?
Corin: We're going to start filling in all of these area.
Pick this brown.
This has got a stencil tip on it.
And you see these areas that are left white?
Lily: All the white?
Corin: Yeah, just the white areas that are left out.
Corin: Fill that in with this color and then yeah.
Lily: Okay, cool.
(spraying sound)
Corin: I'm stoked.
Lily: That's wicked man.
Corin: Yeah.
Lily: We did such a good job.
Max: [unintelligible].
(spraying sound)
Corin: Yeah.
Voiceover: Did you see how she did the swerve on the Y?
Corin: Yeah, she did.
Voiceover: She's all ready.
Corin: That's what's up.
Lily: That is the girliest tag in the history I think of tagging, no?
(bouncy music)
