When I built the house, I was trying to build unique spaces for friends, for family, for
myself to be entertained. Everything from the arcade to a home theater to a room to
play video games. Just different ways to hang out with my friends and enjoy, have fun.
In my parents home we were never allowed to go into the living room. It had white carpet,
and my parents always said it was off limits, and I didn't want to be that kind of guy.
I wanted everything in my house on limits, everything about fun.
The arcade I built here really is a culmination of 20 years of obsession of collecting old video games. Today I own
probably about 60 games . They range everything from Pac-Man to Space Invaders to Centipede
to Millipede to, my favorite, is a 4 player Atari Football with the little X's and O's.
All sorts of games with a smattering of new games thrown in.
As a child, I had discovered Star Trek early 1970's, and a Trekkie was born,
and I decided, while building a house, I really wanted a place not only to have fun, to watch movies, but we built a replica of
the bridge of the Starship Enterprise from Next Generation, but I also collect a lot
of memorabilia from all the original TV shows and movies. So you'll see a lot of the props
from the movies around the house. Whether it be the uniforms, models, and everything in between.
As Xbox became a great gaming platform, and Call of Duty became a religion
around here, so we built a room we started off trying to build something that looked
like an old mash tent from the Korean war, and we built this room everything with camo
netting and lots of military surplus gear just to kinda make it fun and kinda immerse you in the game.
The way I look at it is you only live life once. You should enjoy everyday.
I believe people's homes should reflect themselves, reflect what they like. I never grew up, I
am still a big kid at heart. I act like a kid, I think of myself as a kid, I acknowledge
that not everybody's home goes to the extremes that I do, but I do what I like, and at the
end of the day I live here, my family lives here, we enjoy what we built, and it's fun.
