Hello! My name is Helga Reisner.
I teach at a secondary school, the Musikhauptschule Weiz in Weiz, which is in the east of Austria.
I took part in Armin Hottmann's workshop about the use of videos in education at the etwinning conference in Budapest last year.
I was fascinated that you can do so many things with simple technical equipment like still cameras and Movie Maker.
When I read about Armin's online course in the newsletter later, I applied. That's how I started my first online course.
The platform was very well organized.
I presented myself in the forum, asked questions, found my tasks in task sheets, used the help given by YouTube videos and uploaded
my results like animated photos, short videos edited by Movie Maker and published by YouTube on the blog of the platform.
I wrote comments, received and read comments and answered them on the blog.
Before the first course I had no idea how online learning would work.
As a teacher with more than thirty years experience I was impressed to find out about a teaching method really new to me.
I was also impressed by the clear structure on the platform and by the sessions. I also found the assignment of tasks very motivating.
The place for sharing our results was the blog and for asking for help or giving advice we used the forum.
There was also the opportunity to chat on the platform.
As the mail addresses were in the profiles we also had the opportunity to mail each other.
After the first online course I lead a photo course for one ICT-class at our school and I prepared a task sheet for
for them like Armin did for online courses. They also had a YouTube video to help.
Next week one of my English groups is going to take short videos about our school and I'm going to use Armin's structure
and we're going to share the videos with our eTwinning partners from France and Spain on the eTwinning platform.
