Hola mi bueno amigos!
As you can see unless you are blind, I am a tomato.
I am being paid to speak to you about
La Tomatina, which is in English
means a very toxic poison found in some plants.
It is actually a tomato fight believe or not.
Pretty weird I am right?
La Tomatina is held in Valenciana
every year. In the town of Bunol,
the pots and pans-- excuse me,
participants, they throw tomatoes at each other for fun.
Now, can I explain the basic history
of La Tomatina or will you throw tomatoes
at me ha ha I am fun presentation.
It started in 1945 during a parade.
Some young guys who were mad
and wanted to be in it threw tomatoes as weapons.
The police were able to ketchup
and the jealous guys had to pay for damages.
Next time around on the same parade
at the end of August they did it again.
The police did ketchup to them and stopped them.
They did it a few more times in following years.
Eventually the town of Bunol allowed this to happen.
Next year they arrested people.
But the residents did ketchup
to them and let them go.
However the truth did ketchup
to the young people and they stopped
and did the natural thing to do.
They threw a funeral for la Tomatina.
They had casket for tomato,
marching band for tomato, singers for tomato,
people who did ketchup to the tomato,
and casket for tomato.
After this tho the tomato rose from the dead
like a round red zombie and the residents
made La Tomatina become official.
The town hall did ketchup to them
though and organized it soon after.
First in the festival nowadays,
there are normal things like people climbing
up poles to get to ham, and water shoots through air
and people shouting eleven times.
Then the chaos begins. People wear goggles
and glasses and throw the bad tasting
tomatos at eachother. You can run away
from a tomato, throw a tomato, ketchup
to someone and then throw tomato.
It's fun, it's very fun. About 150,000
tomatoes are thrown.
Let me put that into perspective.
That's about two times more than
75,000 tomatoes, and one hundred
fifty times more than 1,000 tomatoes
Now you know multiplication.
Let me continue. There are rules and regulations
that they have to follow for the
safety of family and friends.
The first rule is that tomatoes
have to be squashed before thrown.
They can't throw anything besides tomato.
You have to allow trucks and vehicles to go by.
You can't rip off shirts, so that might be a
deal breaker for people that like to do that.
Also you can't throw tomatoes after the second gunshot.
It signals the end of the Tomatina.
Other places that do this sort of thing are:
Sutamarchan, San Jose de Trojas,
Dongguan, Reno Nevada, and Esparaguerra.
La Tomatina is fun for you and your family
and friends and neighbors and your pet fish,
if that's how you roll. Thank you for your time.
