The department's at the World Refugee Day celebrations
today in Brisbane, just to help celebrate the multicultural societies within Australia
and the diversity that we've got on offer today.
So we've got soccer, we've got volleyball, we've got food.
So the message we want to try and spread here today through the department is to help
celebrate all the cultures that we've got here.
I would prefer people to take the safe journey to come to Australia.
UNHCR , its capacity is limited, but still it's advisable for people who are refugees to
come through those channels, so that they can get the fair treatment from the system.
Yeah, I would encourage that.
My own experience was I came through completely legal and normal migration.
People who want to come here might be deceived by the people trafficker that they are
safe boats.
It's not true.
There are a lot of very sad stories in past, that unfortunately people actually lost
their lives, and their dear loved ones, unfortunately through this very very dangerous
journey.
So the message we want to spread to the multiple communities here is to tell your friends
and family overseas, come to Australia the right way, and don't be sorry.
