In tennis, if they do practice their serve, which is great. I'm happy that they do. But
most people never practice the return. So every point starts off as somebody serving
and the other side returning. So what this drill is, is one of the best serve return
drills there is. So I'm going to serve from here to Daren. By serving from here, it's
easier on my arm. Second, a lot more serves quickly. So what we're going to do, is just
like that. And then Daren returns it. Now he can hit it to me and I can then hit another
ball back to him. If we want to add that aspect to the practice. But this is a great way of
upping the quality of your return. If you watch the best players on the Tour on TV,
their serve returns are excellent. So really, even if you have a great serve, they can return
them. And they are able to do that because they practice a lot. So Daren, I'm going to
hit some to Daren's forehand and his back hand. So you can see, Daren can get a lot
of returns quickly because I'm this close to the net. And if I really want to up the
pace of a ball, it's not that hard to do. But this is a way for me to work on my serve
and my volleys. And Daren can work on his serve return. So Daren, let's have you go
to the other side now. So now I can practice hitting him up wide to him. Down the middle.
So this is a really valuable drill. And once you do it, it's a lot of fun. You can make
a game out of it. You can play. The server can then try to volley for the winner and
then returner can try to pass them. So that's a great drill and I hope you take advantage
of it and master it.
