(Jonathan) The high-stakes battle continued as teams raced to finish their home renovations.
You have two days left to finish the work here.
There's a lot of work to be done for three people.
It's looking good in here!
Oh, I like it, nice job.
While Team Jonathan fell apart.
Mark, he was slow, slow, slow.

It's a lot of work.
We've got three days.
(Monica) Time.
This project, to beat the other team, it has to be finished.
Well, let's run it by Drew when he gets here and see what he thinks.
I don't think Brett and Monica realize how much work
it takes to put a lot of this stuff down.
I can compromise with you-- we can do a nice mosaic
around the shower if we want to do that.
I'm a little concerned, because I think we do play it too safe.
I'd like to see us go outside the lines a little more.
We have some grand ideas-- I can't wait for Drew to hear them.
And we have to do some staging in here.
The layout of the master bedroom's a little off,
and the Saltillo tile floor looks really out of place.
Mmhm, I do, too.
I absolutely agree, 100%.
Just one wall...
So you guys have a lot of plans in place, or what?
Ambitious, but finish the job.
What's the plan?
Now keep in mind, this is a high end area,
so people are expecting something nice.
Yeah.
All right, sounds like you have a good start in here-- how about the bathroom?
Let's go.
Our thought was to do a tile just around this,
the center portion, just to keep it as its own entity.
You know what, that's actually a cool kind of a look--
I'd like to see what you come up with.
I'm gonna hang around for a few minutes here, help you guys finish up your plan,
we can rip a little bit of stuff out here and get to work.
Jonathan likes to rip stuff apart...
I'm a little cleaner than that.
(Drew) Team Drew's initial ideas are great.
I feel confident that my team can complete this task, and they'll do it really well.
[grunts] Got it?
Got it, got it, got it.
The renovation begins.
(Torche) Yes, yes!
You ready?
Ohhh!
The master bathroom is definitely where we're going
to be able to add the most value to this house.
Torche is doing the flooring and the vanity.
I'm taking on the bathtub alcove and putting tile on the bathroom walls.
I really feel good about this-- if we complete it, there's no way we're gonna lose.
So I take on the walkthrough closet
because I want to provide more storage, essentially.
I don't have the time
to get custom-built closets in here,
so I'm gonna have to go with some pre-fab closets,
and then I'm gonna stage the master bedroom and get some paint on the walls.
It's gonna be my style, so I'm excited.
There you go.
There's a ton of work that needs done here
in preparation to lay the flooring in the master bath.
All right.
So let's fire down some screws.
My concerns are, we're gonna be all over each other.
It's small, it's tight, there'll have to be perfect planning
and scheduling in order for us to get done.
Don't forget the hole for the toilet.
[laughs]
Okay, so I'm looking for the bedroom color.
If we do the darker up top, it'll give the eye somewhere to go.
I think a bedroom is always wonderful in blues,
because it really is a restful color,
so I'm gonna change the paint color, and we've gotta put down the wood floor.
Also, the staging has to be done.
It's gonna be a lot warmer and more comfortable for a bedroom.
That Spanish-style floor really has to go.
I think a fresh, updated modern wood floor would just
give this space the appeal it needs.
I feel my teammates are using me as a general contractor,
but I put that all past me, because I know what I can do and my ability.
David and I take on the bathroom
because he's really good at laying tile.
The shower is the focal point of the master bathroom,
so to modernize it, we're going to install
the mosaic around the exterior of the shower,
and then we're going to install double sinks and lay a tile floor.
So we go to
a high end custom tile store.
I'm not a fan of it.
Yeah.
I would totally use it if someone else was installing it.
Brett and Monica are really strong-willed about their choices for tile,
and I keep reminding them,
"Guys, you're not gonna install this, I am."
Are we absolutely sure that we can't do this pattern?
I say we fly with that, it's in our color palette.
I'm noticing as the competition is going further and further,
competitive streaks are starting to show.
My intention is to win this thing.
Coming up...
Oh my gosh, I don't like the paint colors in the master bedroom.
The blues, right now, it's overpowering, and it feels very '90s.
This paint is gonna have to go,
otherwise...chopping block.
That's pretty bad.
I'm pretty sick.
Torche is obviously very, very sick--
I'm really gettin' worried now.
(Monica) All right, Day 2, guys!
So we go into the house, and I'm thinking...whoa.
I don't like the paint colors in the master bedroom.
It could still go a little more gray for me.
I thought the color was great when I put it up.
Unfortunately, the light of the day is changing.
The color seems to keep getting stronger and stronger.
Hey, guys-- the flooring material is in,
and this is the color, but I think it's still really beautiful.
I think it's great.
Okay.
This is gonna be a very time-consuming change.
So instead of worrying about the paint,
I'm just gonna focus on these floors--I've gotta get them done today.
(David) So the plan for the bathroom today is to put up that mosaic.
The prep is very important to get a good, finished product.
This stuff is soft.
My task today is to help
with the tiling and flooring.
On the bottom, we have to make sure
Oh.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Brett is a sweaty mess-- he's flustered, and he's trying to get things done.
Do I need to put it on any thicker than that?
Helping him out was gonna take valuable time away from other work.
Okay.
I'm gonna stay out of your way in this small bathroom,
We got this.
In the master bathroom, I'm definitely putting my personal stamp.
I'm looking for a Spanish revival dresser-type thing
that I can turn into a vanity.
I find the most amazing piece.
Someone else wants it, so I begin to bribe.
$700? $750. $900?
$1,100 for sure... they don't want to do it.
I'm still searching and searching.
[sighs heavily]
Finding this special piece is important to me, and it is a risk.
Searching, searching, searching.
(Mark) Jonathan's biggest criticism of me is that I haven't shown him my design style.
So this time around, I have a really good design for this bathroom alcove.
Twelve-inch inset, 6-inch bar in between,
12-inch inset.
What I'm going to do is build a beautiful,
very intricate, decorative shelving inset.
And it's simple.
That's gonna be my signature piece.
All right, I am, too.
At this point, I'm feeling a bit under the weather,
but I don't care, I'm a soldier.
So I'm gonna get some paint on the walls in the master bedroom.
So hopefully I can keep my mind in the right place
and push my body.
I feel good about the team's renovation plans, I feel like they're focused.
I really hope to see the most progress in the bathroom.
If we're gonna keep on schedule, we need to already be doing some of the finish work today.
HardieBacker...
Um...
This is basically how it was when I left yesterday.
I don't know what they've been working on.
I assumed that last night, the floors were gonna go down.
Now, tonight is the last night that we have,
and I don't see that it's gonna get done in time.
If I get any window,
I can throw down this floor very quickly.
You and Mark need to get on the same page with that.
I'm scared to death, because I'm sick, I'm exhausted,
but I can't afford to slow down-- I don't want to fail.
(Jonathan) Torche is working hard, but I can tell something's bothering her.
It concerns me a little, and I wonder what it is.
The major problem with this bathtub alcove is I have no idea
whether or not any of the framing is structural.
These can come out for sure, I'm not positive...
about this one.
Well this...this structure is nothing.
Thankfully I have Jonathan helping me on this project.
I might have to go up into the attic and take a look at what we're dealing with.
Now I just have to figure out how to get back out.
This is definitely taking longer than I had hoped.
We weren't thinking here, Jonathan, we should have just
framed this whole thing out with 2x6s.
(Jonathan) Mark is trying really hard to finish the bathroom,
but there's so much to do, and he's drowning,
so I'm gonna have to jump in there and try and save him.
[coughing]
It's beautiful tile, right?
It's the end of the day, and we are still not
that much closer on the bathroom.
Yeah.
Okay, I'll continue over here.
The flooring is taking far longer than I ever thought it would.
It's a nightmare, to say the least.
This is...
My team, they have to manage their time appropriately.
So I'm hoping now when I walk in here, all the flooring should be done,
and hopefully they're starting to work on other elements of the space.
Hi, Drew!
Yeah, this is actually the last piece-- you wanna help me with it?
Yeah, yeah, I'll help you get that in there.
All right, looks good.
I think you've done a really good job in here, but...
I wanna talk to you about the color in here.
The blues, right now, it's overpowering, and it feels very '90s,
and we want this to feel that it's very modern.
This paint is gonna have to go, otherwise...
chopping block.
I want to have a look at the bathroom, see what you guys are doing in there.
I actually thought you'd be a lot further along.
You've sort of tiled yourself into a corner, because you can't
finish all of this until it dries, I suppose.
I'm starting to get a little worried.
I know that you guys are trying to do the best for this family.
The problem is, there's so much to do with only one day left.
To be completely honest, this is the most concerned I've been to date,
and I can see they're frantic, and I have a feeling
they feel they've taken on more than they can finish.
All right.
(Mark) All right, last day, Torche.
It's Day 3, and I have so much to do for the bathtub alcove.
I need to pick up the pace, because I don't want Torche
waiting on my to lay the flooring in the master bath.

I'm happy with the choice-- I hope that Drew is.
Hey, Drew, how are you?

Still painting.
Okay.
I think that looks...it does look better--have you got your closet organization yet?

Unfortunately, the closet that we planned on salvaging

Several parts were broken, so the closet now has to be redone.
All right, what can I do out here?
You want to roll on a little?
This is a much better color.
I'm so glad you like it.
We are not that much closer on the bathroom.
Yeah.
I'm a nervous wreck as it is-- the last thing I want to do
is hand over an unfinished product.
I'm gonna help Brett and David with the tiling in the bathroom
to make sure that we finish on time
because I want to beat Jonathan like no one's business.
Perfect cut.
At this point, we have to have the board all done,
we've gotta have mud up there, we've gotta have the tiles maybe started.
I want to see that this is really further ahead.
Hello...oh my God, you guys still don't have this boarded yet.
Unfortunately, also,
Why's that?
She is sick as can be.
You're joking.
and she...no, she is completely out, so...
I am worried about not having Torche here.
I agree, however, we have to make sure that she takes care
Okay, all right.
(Jonathan) It's a huge blow that Torche can't work right now,
so wherever Mark wants me, that's where I'm gonna be working.
If we're able to complete all the projects, I think we will win this.
(Dr. Farzam) Let's see here...put that under your tongue...
check your oxygen levels... and your heart rate.
You've got the flu.
I'm physically done, but mentally...
it takes more than this to take me down.
If I wear this, will everybody be safe?
Thank you, Michael.
Okay.
Where the mind goes, the body will follow,
so I'm just gonna push through.
[coughs]
We got issues here-- we're gonna have to figure out how we can work together.
I have to do the floor in the bathroom,
but I can't thinset down the tile and grout it,
because Mark is still in the bathtub.
If Mark doesn't finish his bathtub area, I can't finish my projects,
so it's gonna hurt our team.
I'm trying to do my finishing details--I am getting the closet together.
Sixteen inches deep is huge.
The closet solution that Brett bought for me
is a little deeper than it needs to be.
Nope.
So I've got to figure out how to make it work.
(Brett) So this is what would go here?
Potentially, I don't know yet.
Dave and I keep moving forward in getting this bathroom done as quick as possible,
but I'm freaking out that we're delivering
a product that we're still not 100% proud of.
Time's ticking by-- I find my vanity, and I'm so happy.
Ohhh, yes! Beautiful!
The problem is, I can't get in the bathroom and finish my floor,
and I can't bring my vanity in, because Mark's way behind.
There's no way he's gonna finish
what he started, and we're in trouble.
It's coming.
(Jonathan) If we can finish the tile, that'll add a lot of drama to the room.
According to Mark, he is up for this challenge.
I just hope that he can pull it off.
(Mark) Not finishing could definitely cost our team the win,
and it's not who I am, not who I want to be, and it does not feel good.
(Drew) Ten seconds!
(Drew and Jonathan) Nine...eight...seven...
six...five...four...
three...two...
one!
How do you feel?
We could've used a lot more than 15 minutes.
This renovation was a failure...it's not complete.
Tomorrow I'm gonna walk through with the judge.
I hope that they see, you know, that we really did add a lot of value to this place.
Hopefully it's enough, all right?
All right.
See Jonathan and Drew's best makeovers at hgtv.com/brothers.
Why are you speaking in third person? That's weird.
Jonathan doesn't think it's weird.
Well, this was a rough one.
We had pretty much everything that could go wrong...go wrong.
My team took on more than they should've as well, so...
We'll see.
It's just the way I roll.
Hey guys, how are ya?
Nice to see you, too.
(Drew) Judging our teams' houses today is one of the real estate experts
on HGTV's "Selling LA", Kennon Earl.
Fantastic.
Oh, wow.
(Drew) So in here, drastic difference, obviously, from what it was before.
This bathroom used to be a total mess.
It was abandoned in the middle of a renovation
and left completely unfinished.
(Kennon) So I think it really looks great, I love the colors,
I love the feeling, I love the double sinks, but...I'm seeing some details
Yeah.
That's ridiculous.
And this was a bad choice for the mosaic, because the glass on there...
it just washes out against the color on the wall.
Yeah, against the color, and it makes the wall look like it bows a little bit.
And you know, in this neighborhood, there's very high expectations,
so this kind of stuff, it's going to devalue the property.
They've gotta pay attention to the quality of the workmanship.
All right, why don't we head out of the bathroom and check out the walk-in closet.
(Jonathan) Great, let's do it.
(Kennon) Wow.
(Drew) Before, this closet was cramped and cluttered.
Now, it's updated, it's spacious,
however, they actually have less storage than they did before.
(Kennon) I don't think they really brought any value here.
The only way to add value here is if you make it more accommodating for more clothing.
But as we look over here, you can see this is where the big *** is.
(Drew) Before, this bedroom
used to feel small and uninviting,
especially because of the dated floor tile.
I would say the best thing that my team has done is the hardwood.
(Kennon) Everybody wants wood floors especially in this neighborhood,
and I think this is a great value increaser,
and it's a great color, it's very subtle,
and I think that this will show really well.
(Drew) Overall, would you say that this is the most impressive space?
Hands down.
Well why don't we see what your team did with their place?
Let's do it.
You remember the master bedroom before.
It was a mishmash of every little bit
of furniture and color you could think of,
and now, I think it's a drastic improvement.
(Kennon) It's much more presentable, it looks fresh, it doesn't look as cluttered.
I would actually say it doesn't look fresh...
it's also dark.
I will say Torche did a much better job on the closet organization
Really? Okay.
Okay, after you.
(Kennon) This is really nice.
(Jonathan) Before, this space was not being utilized well,
and the master bedroom had almost no storage.
(Kennon) From a quality perspective, she did a really nice job
with the finish... she did this in a short amount of time, right?
(Jonathan) She actually did this all yesterday, and she had the flu.
This is the first time, though, on any of the challenges,
that one of the teams hasn't finished their job at all-- if you come into the bathroom.
(Drew) Oh, man.
Previously, the bathroom had been left mid-renovation
and was totally unfinished, and unfortunately, that's still the case.
(Jonathan) Mark spent so much time trying to build these shelves
that he didn't get anything else done.
That's the problem, is he's doing everything...
Yeah.
He originally wanted to do tiles all the way up on the wall--
had to axe that.
Torche said she was taking on the floor in here--
they don't have the tile set.
You can see down here that all of these tiles are actually loose.
This is a shame, because this is gonna devalue it dramatically.
Now I have to have my crew come in and finish.
(Kennon) I like the choices that they're going for, I love this vanity,
but had they completed it, I think you would have had
a great amount of added value here.
You've got talented people-- they just need to learn how to manage themselves.
What I'm now gonna have to struggle with is coming up with the numbers,
Right.
Great.
Fantastic.
Okay.
Coming up...
There is a big issue here,
and that is that this project is not done.
Uh oh, here we go.
Here's a renovation comparison brought to you by autotrader.com.
On "Brother vs. Brother", there are many ways to increase property value.
Mosaic tiles around a shower stall can add pop and pizzazz to a bathroom,
and a custom tiling design over a bathtub can make
a bathroom truly unique.
A side-by-side comparison shows how both can really increase the value of a home,
but which adds more to the bottom line?

Hey Drew, how are ya?
Come on in, take a seat.
So how are you guys feelin'?
Nervous--there's a lot riding on this one, of course.
It's the last one until the finale.
I do want to say, quality of the finish work is just as important as finishing the job.
It's gonna be up to our judge to see if you actually added more value than the other team.
Hey.
Nice to see you, too.
You guys already know Kennon Earl--he's from HGTV's "Selling LA".
This is his domain, so if anybody knows value in this area, this is the man.
(Kennon) So you guys did a really good job in the master bedroom.
The colors, I think, are really great--
it makes that master bedroom look really luxurious.
Mmhm.
I think you should be very proud of that, as well-- it looks really good.
I feel so happy!
On the flip side, that closet is worse than what it was before.
It's not as useful, it doesn't have as much storage space.
(Monica) It wasn't something that we planned to do,
but in the process of taking the closet out, which we had to do to get the wood floor in,
it was broken, so we tried to replace it with something nicer...
In this neighborhood, these are high price points.
People want a nice walk-in closet, that's part of the value.
Now let's get to the bathroom-- that bathroom is a challenge no matter what.
The location of the shower... it doesn't make any sense.
But I was really upset, because this is where
you guys didn't take your time and look at detail.
The very first thing I see when I walk in the door
is the edge, which is unfinished.
I mean, it just looks horrible,
but I think that, overall, you guys should be very proud.
The floor tile looks really nice, it finishes it off.
So let's get down to it-- considering all of the work you've done,
I've determined that this house should be listed for...
$1,163,000.
It's a difference of $28,000.
You have very stiff competition, though,
and the question is... is that enough?
Here we are...guys.
(Jonathan) So, you remember Kennon Earl?
Yes, we do.
I'm here to wow the judge-- I took a lot of risk with this bathtub design.
However, no risk, no reward.
Right off, you guys did such a tremendous amount
of work in such a little amount of time.
The master bedroom was really horrible before.
They didn't have any sense of style.
You did a lot of work,
and you should pat yourselves on the backs for that,
but I think I would have liked to see it a little bit more crisp,
but the closet looks amazing.
I think that the finish work on that is great.
That was, for me, the highlight of the space.
(Kennon) So let's move on to the bathroom.
Obviously, there is a big issue here, and that is
that this project is not done.
Uh oh, here we go.
(Kennon) Looking at the difficulty of that back wall,
while it's a great design, and I think it's really cool,
you guys focused so much on quality,
you didn't get it done.
As an agent, my only perspective
is how I can sell this house.
I cannot sell this house in its current position.
Not having this finished is losing,
and losing means someone's going home.
As an agent, my only perspective
is how I can sell this house,
and I cannot sell this house because the bathroom is not done.
When I went back to look at the value added, it was really tough.
I could only come up with an additional $16,000,
so I'm sorry, but you guys lost.
I am...mad, I'm mad.
That means Team Drew has won.
I've determined that this house should be listed for...
$1,163,000.
The question is, is that enough?
Yes it was.
(Drew) Good job, guys!
And all three of you are in the final--I mean, out of five on our team, three in the final.
Group hug, get in here.
Yay, go Team Drew!
(Jonathan) So, one of you will be going home.
I have to consider who I think, moving forward,
is gonna make Team Jonathan the strongest,
not just from this challenge, but from the entire competition.
I didn't finish, Torche didn't finish--
there's reason to send either one of us home.
So Torche, tell me why you feel you should go into the finale.
I think I should go forward because all the way back
to my first master bathroom, I finished what I said I'm gonna finish,
and I've raised property value.
Mark didn't finish this last project, so... that's all I can say.
Mark, what do you have to say?
Well, I think first of all, the entire team didn't complete.
I was not the only one who didn't complete my portion.
Furthermore, I also feel that from any contestant
on Team Jonathan, at any point in time, my decisions
and my work has single-handedly added the most value to every single property.
That's a pretty bold statement.
In terms of Torche, I feel that I showed
that I was much more of a team player.
When you went out sick, I didn't bypass your projects.
I made sure to delegate that people were working
on your bedroom, your master closet.
I did notice that he was making up a backup plan in case, for some reason,
you weren't able to finish, and I thought that was great.
You both have a tremendous amount of strengths.
But Torche, I think that you have shown that you are willing to take on
any task, and I think that's great.
So Torche...I do think that you're gonna be
the strongest person to move forward with me,
so you're going into the finale.
Awesome.
[voice muffled] Good for you, Torche.
Thank you so much, Jonathan-- I really appreciate it.
Good luck, Torche.
I really hate to go home, but Torche was a great competitor.
I know that if we would've completed that bathroom,
we would've won this competition hands down.
Are we gonna take this thing?
Yeah, I thought you were sending me home a minute ago, I'm like...
It is by no mistake that you're still here,
because you have shown me the passion that you have
to win this entire competition.
Bring it in here.
Five we started with-- come on with me--
we're down to one.
All right.
This is amazing.
Is this our house?
Oh my gosh! [gasps]
Look at that beautiful vanity!
I love the new tub!
That's really unusual-- it's so beautiful.
No way!
Just what you wanted.
His and hers.
Oh my gosh!
look at it! It's amazing!
Oh my...I'll have to share it with you.
Next time...
We're standing in front of one of the two houses that you'll be working on.
Both houses are mirror images of each other.
It's actually not just the houses that are identical.
Oh!
Twins are amazing.
[laughs]
Ha-ha! Huh!
I believe in these girls.
The other team always called us the boring team,
so please, let's make sure that we're adding the most value.
We have to make every decision count.
I have to say... really incredible.
We've decided that the first champion
of "Brother vs. Brother" is...
