We start this year 2014
with a socially critical – or political – exhibition
at least that was the purpose,
...which we had, as we chose,
...last year, these two artists,
namely Julia Sossinka and Jens Rausch.
Plastic-Plastic
is a subject, which I guess...
many have something to do with,
which is perhaps a controversial issue nowadays...
It occurs to me, last December's facebook action,
about avoiding plastic,
or daily absurdities –
e.g. I've seen peeled off bananas...
at the supermarket, which were...
themselves packed again in plastic.
When one observes the work by Jens Rausch,
one may feel resemblances
of the Flemish or Dutch still lives
of the 17th century, and if one wants to grasp...
this thoughts, one can repair to the search...
of individual details.
Just a cue: In the 17. century...
the subject matters...
very often attributed a meaning,
which means, one could represent fruits, which decays, or flies...
...settling on them,
expressing thus the evanescence.
And those who are a little versed,
will have fun at watching...
Jens Rausch's paintings,
although those who aren't, will find a completely different...
level of meanings for themselves –
e.g. a socially critical one.
Julia Sossinka on the other hand makes use of plastic...
to let it become three dimensional objects.
She created at the front room, an installation
...where one can walk through.
Specially exciting for us,
is how the space of "Kurt im Hirsch" changes...
through the hands of the artists.
And of course, one can also linger and search
points of references on the work of Julia Sossinka
– totally individual.
For instance, on the work on the left side, I find...
...that the subject of color aquires a good prevalence.
The way in which Julia applies the colors,
is for me almost as a paint brush stroke.
If we want we can of course...
bring along yet other artist...
...who have gone a whole different way with plastic,
e.g. Tony Cragg is a big representative; for those who don't know him...
he collects subject-matters which should be recycled...
and installs them on the wall...
so one can get conscious of...
...the fact that the subject of plastic can turn to everything,
so, how versatile are the possibilities with it,
but also to deal with the plastic as medium,
And I can tell, for real, that we have here invited
two wonderful artists,
who show us their own version of the handling of this subject.
