In this video, we are going to review how to prepare your screen for printing. Now,
you've already transferred your image. But, regardless of what transfer method you used,
whether it was photo emulsion or screen filler, nothing blocks the screen all the way to the
edges, so you need to tape it off. As you can see, I've already started doing that here.
Just take a piece of packing tape and run it along the edge, across over here. Then,
you'll want to clamp your screen down to your table. These clamps are specifically made
for screen printing and can be ordered from screen printing companies. Any screens that
are bigger than 16 x 20, it's absolutely essential that you use them. A screen this size, I really
prefer it. I clamp it on, it helps to hold it in place. And then the last step is you
want to create a trampoline effect on your screen. What that means is that it gives it
a bounce. So you do that by taking a piece of foam core and taping them to the bottom
corners. This also helps to protect the base of your screen just in case there's anything
sharp on your table, it won't pop a hole in your screen. One on both sides and you're
good to go.
