My name is Jerome Jones. I attended Paul Robeson High School in Brooklyn, New York
I've attended Corning Community College starting 2011
I'm expected to graduate 2013 in May
with an Associates of Liberal Arts, Math and Science. Math and Science are just two of
the strongest subjects that I'm pretty good at.
If it takes me to a bachelor in Math and Science and I can do that and then
if I want to do Education after that
I don't know about that, about teaching really.
but maybe I can go into a research field. I'm actually the first person
in my household to attend college and graduate high school.
I'm coming from a big city
It's pretty loud. I've lived there for like eleven years. It's loud.
I guess I just wanted to get away from all the hustle and bustle.
I've come to CCC because it's alot quieter and alot bigger.
the ratio...
the staff to student ratio is alot smaller. So I know I can get that one-on-one attention.
The whole advising and counseling has been helpful
The learning centers have been extremely helpful.
I received the Dan S. Hoover scholarship.
With this scholarship--what it does for me
it helps me take less hours from work,
and it helps me focus more on school and basketball.
So that's why I applied for a scholarship.
Actually, this scholarship helps me more because
if I take less hours, and I focus more on my GPA raised, then next semester I can apply
for more scholarships. I was excited, but honestly truly wanted more.
So I wanted to set a higher goal for myself, to know that next semester I can
receive more, and basically help me more.
So if I don't have to work two jobs then that will be alot better.
I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the scholarship.
It helps me very much. Thank you.
