Shake it, baby!
Hey, where's the music?
[ ♪♪♪ ]
Hi there, I'm Roberto. Hope you guys are doing well.
I really mean that. Well I always do but this time more than ever
because I'm not doing well myself and I don't want anybody to go through what I'm going
through. Here's a question though: Do you hate change?
I don't really hate change myself but I don't necessarily like it, especially when it's
change just for the sake of changing. That said, things don't always work the way
you want them to work or the way you need them to work, and if you have tried to make
them work for a few months and still you don't get results, it's definitely time for a change;
time to shake things up. I'm under a lot of stress right now as I'm
preparing to shake things up in my life. I'm starting the process of selling my house
and I have to get a lot of stuff done before that even happens.
And I'm getting ready for the process as a seller being as painful as it was as a buyer.
So obviously I'm moving but, where am I going? Well as I have been planning since at least
2009, I'm moving back to the United States but this time not to Florida.
Sorry guys, but I really didn't like it there, plus if I wanted to take the risk of hurricanes
every single year, I would just stay here. Hey, that rhymed!
I'm a little nervous about that mission too. You see, when I first moved to the United
States back in 2002, it was a whole different situation.
I was offered a job which I accepted and when I arrived at Saint Petersburg, Florida I met
this really nice lady who was about to become my boss.
But she helped me all along the way with the relocation process.
Even though I did run all the necessary errands: from finding an apartment, to securing a lease,
hooking up the utilities, getting a state ID and opening a bank account, she drove me
everywhere as needed and she even served as reference, even though she had known me online
for a few months. This time the story is completely different!
I have no one to help me; I'm all on my own. I'll be relying on tech and using the power
of apps to find my way around and get everything done.
That means I'm going to find an apartment, secure a lease, hook up utilities, get some
furniture, get a state ID, open a bank account, all that plus job hunting!
It's going to be an interesting mission, that's for sure; one that I'm really hoping I can
accomplish. In fact, my goal is to celebrate my 40th birthday
in August at my new place. As to what city I'm going, I'm not disclosing
that yet because I still have some research to finish.
But what's going to happen in the meantime? Well, I'll still be making at least one video
per week, as things begin to disappear from this place, until I'm ready to shut down Internet
service and get the heck out of here. Then, obviously I'll be taking a break from
making videos until I get settled at my new place and hook up Internet service there,
but I'll still be around in Google+ and Twitter as long as I have a mobile data connection.
So that's it. I'm shaking things up looking for the personal
and professional growth that I haven't been able to achieve here in Puerto Rico.
But, what about you? When was the last time you did such a big
move? Do you have any other examples of ways you
have shaken things up looking for a change? Please share them in the comments.
