Here are some ways that family members can help a patient who has been diagnosed with
breast cancer.
Family members can be a very positive influence on a woman who is going through breast cancer
diagnosis mostly by listening to how she feels and knowing that while you might not be able
to fix it, you don't necessarily have to provide the fix verbally but just being available
for her to talk to, for her to go out with and do something that's a departure from the
treatment, to go with her to treatment, for hand-holding and feeling that she has somebody
empathic and supportive with her. If you are her partner then that might be talking about
your intimate life, your *** life, having some romantic time together that's not completely
focused on something *** so that you maintain the intimacy and talking if you have children
about how to talk to the children about what's going on, getting on the same page about that,
so that mom can essentially help children understand when she is not feeling well and
cannot be involved in something but also alleviating the child of terrible anxiety, so doing it
in a way that actually works for both will actually be a great relief for mom. Outside
family can really help by pitching in, so if a woman's diagnosed she may be very tired
when she is going through treatments, offering to whatever it is, do the laundry, pick up
the kids, you know just the pitching in makes a woman feel supported and may really make
a huge difference in terms of the energy level that she has.
