"Croc Lady" Vicki Lowing has more bite than bark around the home because as well as her
16-year-old son, Andrew, it's also where her crocodiles Johnie, Fovian and Jilfia live
as part of one very unusual family! Aussie Vicki, 53, who has kept crocs for more than
30 years, says her reptiles are now totally domesticated and she claims she can even communicate
telepathically with 14-year-old Johnie, a 1.5 metre (5ft) freshwater female weighing
12kg. Saltwater croc, Jilfia, is aged three and at 2.4 metres (8ft) and 30kg, she is already
the size of a 10-year-old. Vicki doesn't know if Jilfia is a boy or a girl yet, but a crocodiles
sex can usually be determined aged five with an examination. Little freshwater croc Fovian,
is about 45cm long and just 4kg. Fovian lives in the bath because of his tiny size. Despite
Johnie nipping her a decade ago when the freshwater croc had an infection and was a bit cranky,
there have been no nasty injuries from the notorious predators. But Vicki admits he has
to keep her distance from saltwater beast, Jilfia, because being a saltie she has a nastier
temper than the other crocs. Despite that, Vicki still takes them all for walks whenever
they look as if they need a bit of exercise.
