Let’s take a look at how you can change displaying a score
to displaying a letter grade for the student.
By default, there is just a score displayed here that I typed in.
I’ll go to edit column information.
And let’s say I want my students to see the Letter grade.
Primary Display is what the student sees and the secondary
is just for me.
I'll change these two settings and hit submit.
I can see quickly how well a student does, I can see the
percentages over here, and the student will be seeing the letter grade here.
But where is Blackboard pulling this information to assign a letter grade? Let's take a look at that.
To look at or change what letter grade gets assigned to a percentage
go to manage
and select grading schemas.
Click the arrow next to letter.
And click edit. Here we can see
what Blackboard is defining for letter grades.
I will hit cancel.
We want to create our own letter grade so I'll copy this.
And we'll do an edit.
I’m going to edit the letter grades so that there will be no plus or minus grades.
Continue to edit the percentages as you prefer.
These additionals rows can be removed by clicking delete.
I can also insert rows if needed.
I can even create a simple pass and fail here if I wanted to.
The letter grades on the right are only used if you prefer to enter a letter
instead of a score. Blackboard needs to know percentage to assign
if you type in a letter grade. This isn’t used too often.
I’m not going enter grades as letters, but I do need information
that falls inbetween the scores that I just entered on the left.
Or, Blackboard will give me an error message like the following.
I’ll just a percentage that falls in the range of the scores that I’ve entered on the left.
My new letter system
will now be available in the grade center for my students to see and for me to use.
