Welcome to the Crete Carrier driver training video for the 2013 and later Freightliner
Cascadia's. We will be walking you through all of in the inside and outside features
of the truck and what you need to know to operate it on a day to day basis. When you
open up the hood on the freightliner cascadia, the first thing that stands out is the engine
coolant reservoir. It's located directly on top of the radiator. It is full of the purple
coolant. Make sure you use the purple coolant not the yellow anti-freeze or the green anti-freeze,
they do not mix well together. Then you have the engine oil dipstick. It has the yellow
handle here. Just pull it out and check the oil like you would any other automobile you've
driven. Then you have the engine oil fill. Bellow the engine oil fill and the dipstick
is the engine fuel filter. It also has a few other fuel filters that we will change every
b-service, but the main one you need to take a look at is the glass dav-co filter. As the
filter gets dirty, the fuel will slowly rise to the top of the filter. Once it reaches
the top of the large black band on the top of the filter, that's when it needs to be
changed. If you see it's reached that level and you're not close to a service, bring it
to a terminal so we can change the filter for you. They should last about fifty thousand
miles. Right behind the fuel filter is the power steering reservoir. You'll need to fill
it to between the two cross-hatches on the reservoir, where it's located now is perfectly
fine. Fill it with dextrin three automatic transmission fluid or ATF. You can get that
at the parts department also. Up on the bulkhead, you have to fuse panels. The one that kind
of sticks out along the inner fender well, and the other is directly up against the bulkhead.
They have various fuses for the engine and drive train. There are a few light fuses on
the fuse panel that's up against the bulkhead. Right next to the bulkhead fuse panel is also
the master cylinder for the hydraulic clutch system. Just make sure it's full to the full
line every time you open up the hood, and that should be fine. Down on the frame rail
just inside the driver side steer tire are your jump start terminals. The positive is
facing forward, and the negative sticks out from the frame facing the outside of the truck.
On the passengers side underneath the hood, just above the passenger side steer tire fender
well, you have your fill for the windshield wiper fluid. It takes two gallons. It's kind
of hard to see how full it is because it kind of hides back underneath the cab. You'll know
when it's full because you will see a small amount of blue from the washer fluid in the
neck area when it's full. Once you've used about a half gallon you won't see it there
anymore. Up in the rain tray, you'll notice a honeycomb shaped kind of air deflector sticking
up. Inside of it is where your cab air filter goes. If you ever notice that your air coming
out of your vents isn't blowing as hard as it used to or it has a funny smell, let us
know and we can change that filter for you at the shop. On the engine on the passenger
side, all you need to really pay attention to are your belts. You have two belts. The
main one just runs off of a tensioner, and then your alternator and hc compressor belt
is a separate belt. The top unit is your AC compressor and the bottom unit is your alternator.
Directly underneath the drivers side door, there is a little hatch that opens up, between
the door and the top step. You'll need to open that up to access your D.E.F. fluid tank.
Just grab the panel and flip it down and the little blue cap is for the D.E.F. fluid. Also
inside there you'll see your batteries for the truck. Thank you for tuning in and watching
our training videos, please stay tuned to Crete Carriers Facebook page or YouTube channel
