>> HUGH ROBERTSON: I've always thought, indeed I thought this in opposition, I can say it
now as a minister, that doping is one of the great threats that faces sport in general
and London 2012 in particular.
>> ANDY PARKINSON: Well we're launching the hotline today as another tool in the fight
against doping to really try and solicit information from the sporting environment and really help
us in the fight against doping.
>> HUGH ROBERTSON: This is a really important intiative that the UKAD are announcing this
morning: they're giving the crime a number, a hotline number, you can see it on the board
behind me; and the partnership that they've entered into with Crimestoppers. It is a number
that anybody who suspects that anyone they know may be guilty of an anti-doping offence
can ring and they'll be put through to the professionals and that information can then
be followed through.
>> ANDY PARKINSON: Well we're absolutely delighted to have Crimestoppers on board because they've
obviously got significant expertise in the area of dealing with intelligence provided
by the general public. And, I mean, along with our expertise in anti-doping, we really
think we've got high expectations for the effectiveness of this hotline.
