Hello and welcome to another segment of “Personalidades.”
Sitting here with me is Omar Perez-Then, a Latin American artist
who is very much infatuated with Brazil.
Omar, thank you so much for welcoming us into your home.
-It is a pleasure being here with you. -The pleasure is all mine.
Excellent!
Omar, talk to me a little bit about who Omar Perez-Then is, generally-speaking.
What I can say is that I am a very passionate person when it comes to music.
I am a dreamer—Someone who is always trying to improve himself.
And what about your musical aspirations?
My musical aspirations...
So I went to her show & I was more than excited to be there, dancing & following along.
I had the chance to meet her. My love for her music and the MPB
was a major reason for why I decided to learn Portuguese.
For someone who knows how to speak Spanish, is it easy to pick up Portuguese?
It’s very easy…because there are many similarities in vocabulary.
My father actually goes to Brazil every year & he brings a lot of Brazilian music back home.
So your father was an important influence in your love for Brazil and its music.
Yes.
What other Brazilian artists do you like? Whose songs do you like to sing?
I really like Marissa Monte, Tribalistas, Maria Rita, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and CéU.
Those are some of my sources of inspiration from Brazilian music.
Very good!
So let’s talk a little bit about the future.
Thank you!
Omar, thank you very much for chatting with us today in our segment “Personalidades.”
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us or the audience?
Thank you!
That will be all for today.
Thanks for following and sharing our "Personalidades” segment for BDCi News.
Until next time!
