Hi everyone. Today I am going to show you how to make a double stitch.
With the double stitch you can make either chain
or ring
and has a table shape.
"legs of table" are tied around the core thread which is hidden inside of the double stitch and is not visible.
The top of "the table" indicates that double stitch is complete and is counted as one double stitch.
Every double stitch consist of two halves. First and second half or left and right half.
On thread it looks like this. The red one comes from a ball and is tied around a core thread.
It has first half
and second one
if you can see the top of "the table" it means that the double stitch is complete and has both halves.
To make the double stitch you use two thread sources which are in 90 degree angle.
The green one is shuttle or core thread and is hidden inside of the double stitch (DS) and you can not see it when DS is complete.
The red one is the thread which creates DS and therefore is visible.
First half of DS is done in following manner.
The green thread is going from underneath of the red one, over and through the loop.
I need to flip the knot (so green thread is hidden inside and red one is visible)
pull the green thread to the right and loosen the red one a little bit to create a letter Y .
If the red one is very taut you are NOT able to flip the knot no matter how hard you are trying.
The knot is now flipped and the red thread is tied around the green one.
First half is complete :)
Second half is done as you can see.
The green thread is going from the top of red one, down and through the loop.
do the same - loosen the red thread pull the green one to the right and you can see the flip. Position the knot.
Because you can see two "table tops" you know you've done two DS.
If you can't see the top of "the table" you know that you've done just the first half of DS and you still need to make the second one.
And again - First half of DS.
now - Second half.
Third double stitch is done.
You can clearly see both "legs of the table".
If you can not flip the knot the usual problem is that the red thread is very taut. In this case you need to loosen the thread maybe completely and pull the green one.
If the knot is very close to the completed DS it is again very hard to flip the knot. It helps if you go a little bit higher on the red thread to have a space for flip.
Forth DS is complete.
And AGAIN :)
First half. Remember loosen the red thread and don't go very close to already made DS.
Practice makes it perfect.
Second Half.
Fifth DS is done.
And again
First half. If you get stuck in this position just pull the green thread more.
Second half. Letter Y and pull the green thread and position the knot.
Sixth DS is done.
It is all from me for now. Like & Comment. Let me know how your first DS went. Have a nice rest of the day :) see you later. Paa Paa
