The Hackberry Lake Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area encompasses more than 55,000 acres of
rolling hills and dune lands open for intensive use of motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles.
Divided into two major use areas, a trail system offers nearly 100 miles of twists,
turns, dips, and loops over sandy and sometimes rocky terrain. Visitors will get a close-up
look at the Bureau of Land Management’s multiple use policy in action, as riders may
share the land with grazing livestock, oil and gas production, and other recreationists.
The Hackberry Dunes Complex offers more than 100 acres of scenic, open sand dunes that
will thrill a beginner and challenge the most experienced rider. Bring your motorcycles,
ATVs, tents, and RVs. Bring your camera and preserve a sunrise or a sunset over the dunes.
Capture intricate patterns of animal tracks in the sand. Photo document family outings
or catch a unique shot of nature’s magnificent, ever-changing dune sculptures. The Hackberry
Lake OHV Area is an experience waiting to happen. So get outdoors and explore your public
lands.
