I sell my art...
at the Grainstore
at the Grainstore.
But art is my work.
I'm an artist.
I've been living here in Oamaru for nearly 20 years
and running a kind of artists collective.
It's...a group of us run a space that we exhibit our work in.
Chris had a solo exhibition here four or five years ago
and he had mostly ceramic pieces in it
and we've been selling his stuff since then.
Art Awards
yes I do win a prize
year 2007
year 2012
happy...
money for my leather furniture.
Art Awards this year...
come from
in my head.
It's near the Waitaki Girls High School
Chris has, he has very defined interests in things
and fascinations with things
and yet he has an incredible memory.
Like he can draw and reproduce images
that he's just studied and then will draw from his head.
You know, he doesn't have to be looking at them to draw them...
yeah I think it's amazing
he must have an incredibly photographic kind of memory
'cause it really shows up the detail that he gets in the work
that most people would just forget I think
unless they were actually drawing it from life.
It appears sort of child-like in its simplicity
but it's actually really sophisticated when you look at it
and realise how he works and how he draws...
it's definitely got this sophistication it's completely unique.
Yeah it makes it a completely unique style of work.
So yeah, I've always loved it immensely.
