come up to the rostrum and deliver his luminous talk on the topic, What Al Quraían says about
Aulia/ Protectors. Brother Mohammed Shaikh.
Peace and blessings and mercy of Allah to all of you. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome.
The topic is What Al-Quraían says about Aulia, plural of Wali,. Walis is singular and aulia
is the plural of Wali. What the Quraían says about it. This word Aulia in Indo-Pak sub-continent
is not transalted and we take it as religious or sanctity of the word. Aulia or Wlia means
protector or protectors or in Urdu saraparast. People would like to have somebody, a protector
to them so that they can have security and peace under their guardianship. That is the
concept. That is the emotional attachment between the protector and the person who want
to be protected. That is the relation, that is why we are having this relationship. Ut
at the same time, what the Quraían has to say about this word, protector, can we have
people protect each other, can we be protected to each other or Allah allows or He refrains
to whom we should have, to be in protection. That is the topic. The word itself, Wali or
Aulia, Protectors, it does not emphasize or say anything about itself but when we read
the ayahs of the Quraían we will come to know protection, who can we have this protection.
Is Allah our protector? The messenger is a protector or not, or how can we go about having
protection from these people? Can we be protection, protected each other? That is the topic. And
where it is forbidden and why it is forbidden and when it is allowed and why it is allowed.
This is the topic. Coiming to the references of the ayats, if you open the page 1, the
first verse that we discuss in this booklet
is
Now in this ayah we come to know that Allah is the Wali or the Protector to mankind, that
we mankind, all of us, requires comfort and security. That is, Allah is the Walo/the Protector
to mankind. And when we come in His protection, what He does is that he takes out mankind
from darkness into light. Now this darkness and light is not a physical light or physical
darkness. But we can understand the sense of it in when physically when we are in dark
room. You cannot look around until and unless the light is there, thereís a physical light
you can see so we can see each other, we can see in the surroundings in whatís going on,
whatís going around. Similarly, in psychology, what are the governing ayahs or the rules,
what are the governing ayahs in the Quraían. What are the dos and the donts in the ayahs,
what we have to do and what we have not to do. If we do not know, we are in darkness..
We are in darkness. And once we read the Quraíanic ayahs and understand them, so Allah clarifies
these and then we come out from the darkness because we are doing so many things wrong
in ignorance. We do not know we are doing wrong things. That is because we are not seeing
clearly We are in a dark room. In psychology, we canít see properly. So when we read the
ayahs, we come to know this is what Allah is explaining to us. So in the concept we
are coming out from darkness into light, the purpose of Allah in making Himself as a protector
to us, we can come in security, in comfort when we read the ayahs and when we come to
know the dos and the donts. And we understand them We understand in their essence and when
we follow we come out from darkness into light. We can see the things around us, all the things,
anything you can think and imagine, is not known to you, until and unless you know the
ayahs, what Quraían says about that particular thing., like what the Quraían today says
about the Wali. We have been knowing Wali, the Wali, the Aulai, the sarparast what people
are projecting in the world Today you are hearing what the Quraían has to say about
this word Wali, so now we come to know, so similarly in this ayah Allah is taking out
the people from the darkness into light, that is the purpose. That is how Allah becomes
the Wali or the Protector. Further it says And then those who reject, those people who
reject, their protector/aulia is the taghoot. Now taghoot is unjustly harsh or cruel. This
is an emotion within a human being. When a person becomes unjust and harsh and cruel,
that heís under the phase of Arabic word taghoot. So you must Those who reject. What,
what they reject? When they came into the light by Allah, from the darkness into light
they saw the things properly and by, after knowing the things, how to walk or how to
see in this light, they reject Those who reject. Their protection is, their protector is unjustly
cruel. They become unjustly cruel or harsh. So what they do, this feeling of their emotion
put them back into darkness. This unjust behavior, this unjustly cruel or harsh behavior is a
taghoot which puts a person after coming into light and after seeing things properly and
clearly, This emotion put the people back into darkness. We must be very careful, by
the first of all we understand the ayahs and essence of the ayahs and once we come to know,
the more our emotion of being unjustly harsh and cruel will become, is a taghoot in Arabic,
will put you back into darkness where you came out. They are the compansions of fire.
And they will remain in it forever. So in this total ayat, we analyze, there are two
types of protectors, Aula is the verr, the protectors two types of. One is, Allah is
the Wali. Heís protecting mankind by showing them or taking out from darkness into light
and how we see that come out from darkness to light is through the ayahs., the governing
ayahs and the essence of the ayaat, when they are clear to us we come into the light. But
at the same time those people who reject those ayahs after they are shown to them, after
they are clear to them, the harshness or the cruel behavior, that behavior throws back
into darkness. And they are the companions of Fire. These are the people who are rejecting
the ayahs after they were clear to them. So two types of Wali you come to know, Aulia
from this verse. The next verse
The explanation for the darkness and the light is further explained in this verse. We people
are physically alive, when we come into this world, we are physically alive. But when we
do not know the essence of the ayahs, we are in darkness, we cannot see properly. We cannot
really see. So in the Quraíanic understanding, Allah called these people as dead. They are
dead, sometime deaf and dumb and blind. And some time Allah call them dead, Is he who
was dead then we gave him life So in this ayah Allah is calling this living man alive but calling him dead. Then it says
We gave him life. And He made for him light from which he walks with it among mankind.
What is that light? That light is the essence or the spirit of the understanding of the
ayah. That is the light. The light is the essence of the spirit., of what you hear in
the essence, the essence of the matter of the words of the Quraíanic ayaat so that
light Allah made that light, in that light he walks. He takes decision when he knows
the governing ayahs, the dostand the donts and you know the essence then you walk in
that light, meaning you consider yourself before taking the judgment or a decision,
you take any decision or judgment under the influence of those ayahs. So you are governing
yourself. That is the light, in that light you are walking so that walk is under the
governing ayahs, the dos and the donts you take a decision by taking guidance from those
ayahs so this is how you walk in that light. So Allah compares that person with the person
who is a dead Can he be equal who is in that, in this from which he can never come out.
The man who do not know the ayaat essence or the Quraíanic ayaat or the essence, heís
in darkness from where he can never come out. If he will take guidance from the ayahs, how
can a man - a man who has got eyes and who can see in the light and a man who cannot
see, whoís blind. Cane he be equal? No. In the darkness he cannot see. Similarly, Allah
say the person whoís in darkness can never come out from that darkness. And likewise
the works or the deeds become adornment to the rejecters. So people who reject their
own works, their deeds, they themselves design certain works. In their own concoctions, their
own conjectures they think , if I do this Allah will be happy. They are not doing what
Allah is commanding them in the ayahs, in the governing ayahs. They just conjecting
their own conjectures and start practicing those philosophies, thinking that Allah will
be happy about it. So this is what Allah said. Allah has made the rejecters their works adornment
and they are very happy that they are doing good. It becomes an adornment to them because
they are actually rejecting the ayahs or the light that where they can see what we have
to do. They do not follow the essence or the message of the ayahs. They just conject themselves..
They reject the ayahs., reject the light. And then follow their own conjected works.
So Allah says, they are the rejecters so their works become adornment to them. And they are
very, they are thinking they are very happy about it. So likewise the works become adornment
to the rejecters, So this ayat in relation to the previous ayat, remember, people are
dead. And when Allah gave them life, itís through the light or through the essence of
the ayaat where you can see and a person who doesnít want to come out of that darkness,
heís aÖwill be dead. Allah is calling him a living man dead. Sometimes He calls him
deaf and dumb and blind. That means they canít see. So we have to be very careful. So you
must understand that in the previous ayahs Allahís a Wali and taghoot is also a Wali.
Both of them are Wali. One is a right and one is a wrong. We have to compare and see
them as well. Similarly, in
The further ayat. Now that Wali/the Protector, here before we read a verse, Allah was a Protector.
In this ayah Allah is a Protector and His messenger is also a protector. The second
addition is the messenger of Allah. The messenger of Allah is also a protector. And we know
for sure, there are not only one messenger, Mohammed Rasoolallah (pbuh), a messenger,
and at the same time there are other messengers, so all these messengers are Wali to us. They
are the Aulia, they are the protectors to all of us. Allah is the Protector and messenger
is a protector. So we can - because the name is not mentioned here - we can understand
all the messengers are the Aulia or the protectors to the believers - to the believers - and
the behavior of those believers is that they establish the salah/prayer, the give zakah/justification
and tyheya re bowing down, they are in the position of bowing down. They keep themselves
bowed. They are bowing down. So in this verse we have, Allah has added the quality, said
that Allah is a Protector, the messenger is a protector and the believers, to those believers
who are establishing the salah/the prayer, who are giving zakah/the justification and
who are bowing down. This is the behavior to whom Allah is a Protector, the messenger
is a protector. If you do not practice the salah, the zakah, then Allah is not protecting
you. Maybe taghoot is being youíre protected, by taghoot because youíre became unjustly
harsh, previously Iíve read, remember the word Aulia is not wrong by itself, you have
to understand how, to whom we have to be in protection, so in this ayat you have come
to know the behavior of those people to whom Allah is the Protector or the Aulia. And that
is that they establish the salah, give justification and they are bowing down. And further it says
So now Allah has described that they are those people who are establishing the salah and
the zakah and they are the believers and they are bowing down. And these believers, to them
Allah says they are the Hezbollah. They are the party of Allah. There are many parties
in the world. You see, you must understand that people make, make labels. You see in
the world there is a group by the name of Hezbollah calling themselves as party of Allah.
The behavior of those Hezbollah or the behavior of that party of Allah should be according
to the references of the ayatsís behavior as behavior mentioned in the ayahs. If I do
not behave according to the ayahs or the behavior that established for the party of Allah, then
I can label myself as a party of Allah - easily. Everybody, who would not like to be a party
of Allah? If a label is given to me, I just keep it in my pocket. Iím a party of Allah
but if my character is not such, then I am not in one of those. So you must remember,
the Allah is protecting those, Allah is the Wali of those, the messenger is the protector
of those whose behavior is mentioned, that they are establishing the salah and giving
zakah, in these two verses. Further there may be other things, but at the moment these
two verses. So now if you go further
in Now in this ayah, previously we were reading
Allah is the Protector, messenger was a protector and now who is introduced? Believers are protector
of each other - believers. Believers are introduced. They are the believer men and the believing
women are the protector of each other. The believers men and the believing women are
the aulia, the protectors of one another. Now in this ayah, you see, you must understand,
how we can be protector of each other, the further described, they order with recognized,
or the known or acknowledge, they order to each other what the acknowledged thing, which
is recognized, which is known Suppose I, how Allah is a protector on me or how the messenger
is a protector on me by the ayahs, and I know that ayat, and I know the essence of the ayat,
and I practice that ayat and I follow that ayat, IÖAllah is the Protector on me and
messenger is a protector on me and I convey this ayat to you, you understand that ayat,
you follow that ayat, so Allah and the messenger is a Protector on you. Now suppose I, in the
future, astrayed by the shaitan, suppose, by astrayed the shaitan astrays me, and I
forget, you people donít have to run away. You have to make sure Brother Mohammed Sheikh,
come here. You told me an ayah which says this. This is how you told me and this is
how Iím practicing. So you are again being a protector to me now by remind me of that
ayah where I was misled. So this is how we become protectyor to each other. It is not
one way. I may be at the moment standing in front of you and rehearsing these ayahs to
clarify the ayahs to you. And tomorrow if I forget and you have remembered and you are
practicing, so you can be a protector to me by remind the same ayat to me. So it is both
ways, remember, that the it can be a women also The believers men and women are the aula,
the protectors of each other. It is not one-way traffic, meaning one-sided. Meaning I am the
protector, suppose, and I be the protector, Allah is the Protector, messenger is the protector
and now we are a protectors or aulia of each other by the same verse, the same ayats. Because
Allahís ayahs, as messenger saying and we, if we are following closely to the ayahs,
we can share these ayahs to each other and follow each other - I mean follow, we can
follow the ayahs. If one of us forget or erríors, the other should remind each other. But do
not run away, that Mohammed Sheikh preaches but he doesnít practice. You have to catch
hold of me. You have to educate me. This is how we can become each otherís protector.
They order with the recognize. Recognize are the ayahs. They arte the factual. Anything
which is marroof - Arabic maroof means which is acknowledged, recognized and which is definitely
truth. Maroof. So ayahs are always recognized. This is behavior how the we have to be protector
to each other. Maroof means acknowledged or recognized or known. So any ayat essence which
is known, is recognized, so we will share these ayahs. And further it says And they
forbid about the disguised. You know what is a disguised is? Disguise is something Iím
appears or by psychology we show the effect that this is how this is the truth or this
is it but basically it is nice person, I may be a disguise man. So in this context Allah
says, they forbid about being disguised. Do not disguise. I am wearing a dress. Iím giving
you an example - Iím wearing a dress. Right? And apparently, it appears to be a Muslim
dress in the whole world. Apparently, Iím using the word apparently. It is not so, it
is not the truth but apparently a dress code of a Muslim men is a big beard with a turban
with a long dress No Am I not right? And suppose this man do not know any ayat. So people will
think by his appearance that heís a practicing man. Or youíll go and ask question any answer
to him - keh tell me something about and tell meÖif he doesnít know, so heís what? Is
he disguising? Or not? Hello. Most certainly. So this, Allah is telling us that they forbid
the disguised. They order with marroof which is recognized or known and they forbid with
disguised. - by physically or by psychology. Any book which is a disguised book, showing
something which is not truth, is disguised. So they forbid about the disguised but they
order the known which is maroof. This is the behavior of those people who are a protector
to each other. And they give, again they give, they establish the salah. We have already
read. And they give zakah/justification, we have already read. And they obey Allah and
His messenger, we have already read. Soon Allah will have mercy, His mercy on them.
And surely Allah is Exalted in Power and Wise. So Allah will have mercy on those people whoa
re protecting each other
