On the banks of Jerte river starts penult journey (in Extremadura) that
finish below Cáparra roman arch.
Outside Galisteo cross a superb bridge of the XVI century
for walking in parallel to Jerte river
looking for the way to Pradochano.
During some Kilometers corn and tobacco fields
become in silent witness of our trip to Valle del Ambroz.
Just to entry in Carcaboso we leave the "Vía de la Plata"
for visiting to Plasencia,
city founded by the king Alfonso VIII of León
for God and men pleasure
as is written in latin in her coat of arms
To make a route around the medieval walls,
look at coats arms in the front of palaces of historical houses
or visit the old and new cathedrals
can suppose a true pleasure for any tourist.
The rich cultural heritage of Plasencia added to
her exceptional environment
all together became her in a serious
World Heritage city candidate
Afterwards this short but pleasured tour for Plasencia
we returned to Carcaboso.
In the Santiago´s church surroundings moved from their
original location
stand a pair of "miliarios" that function told in previous stages.
(are roman kilometers stones).
Soon after to cross over long meadows extensions, we´re arriving to our destination:
Cáparra´s roman ruins, the most important archeological deposit
in the "Vía de la Plata".
This old way crossed from north to south the roman city
creating richness and prosperity around her.
In fact, there were five inns in this area
up to the last century.
For having deeper knowledges about history of this exceptional place
it´s recommended to visit the fantastic Centre of Interpretation
located beside the archeological site.
Then, with this view of the famous Caparrá´s roman arch,
authentic symbol of St. Jame´s way in Extremadura,
we say good bay!
