Alright now we are going to do is ready sheet music in the key of A flat major. First we
are going to start off when you are reading through Real Books what you are going to see
is this treble cleft you see here you have a couple of different types of clefts but
we are going to do mainly treble clefts. So you have your treble cleft there and when
you know it is the key of E flat you would see it noted on the paper 1,2,3,4. So these
are the 2 on the top of group of 2 or the half of group of 3 and these are the 2 black
notes that make the group of 2. So here is A flat right here that is where your scale
starts. So we are going to do it right here you have A flat, B flat, C, D flat, E flat
noted over here, F and G. So you have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. So now you are sometimes going to see in when
you are playing you would have a natural sign so now instead of playing B flat we are going
ot play B natural which would be the sharp 2. Even though that is a natural sign. So
now when you go through and read you are going to see stuff like this you want to pretty
much use A flat as your center note when you have this key. So you got your key here. So
here is a example melody 4-4 time so when you are reading you want to read by numbers
so it is more of a pattern so you have 1,5,4,3,2,1,3,5. So now when you go through and play it you
have 1,5,4,3,2,1,3,5. So these are just some simple ideas to get you started and give you
a idea when you go and read through. We are going to do some more segments on just how
to read and how to really go into depth going into real books and fake books but this would
give you a general idea so you can start newing around and figuring out your favorite songs.
