In this video, I'm going to show you how to play "Basket Case" by Green Day.
Billie Joe Armstrong usually likes to mix it up when playing live,
so I'm going to show you how he usually plays it.
This song actually has two different verses and choruses
that're very similar with a few minor differences I'll point out.
Here's the first verse.
The first chorus:
The post-chorus is simple. Just E5, B5, C#5, and back to B5.
The second verse is a bit different from the first.
The chords you need to play will be on screen,
but the thing to remember is you want to make more
sweeping motions and hit all the strings.
Really let the 1st and 2nd strings ring out.
It's alright if you can't help but mute a string with your
pinky when making a power chord.
The second chorus is pretty similar to the first chorus:
This next part is very simple. It's just a palm muted A5 and then a B5:
And finally we have the outro.
We break away from the Root 5 chords for a few seconds.
I'll play it slowly so you can really get it.
Play that a few times, then do a quick slide and end with this.
