I’m Michelle.
I’m Paola.
We own the Beehive School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
We strongly encourage values among the children—
respect, compassion, service.
Paola is my sister, but she is my best friend.
Paola is loving, understanding, and very charitable.
Thank you.
My sister is very organized and sincere.
As little girls, we fought a lot.
She would mess up our room and my dad would scold me.
She is the creative part of the school.
She makes it pretty, and I organize everything.
Mom is the principal and my husband drives the bus.
My sister is in charge of the Spanish program,
and I’m in charge of English.
We’re going to cooking class.
The kids are making cookies.
My two sons, who have autism, are there.
I remember when the doctor told me,
“Sammy has autism, and Javi does too.”
It was a surprise for me.
I said, “What I am going to do with my sons?
Where are they going to go?”
My sister told me,
“Let’s make a class to help other children who have autism.”
This has changed the lives of everyone in our family.
I see Javi, who reads and writes in English and Spanish.
Really, for me it is surprising.
I feel that the school was created for them.
For us to have the school has been a blessing.
It has given us the opportunity
to associate with many people that need our help.
We are mothers, wives, and teachers.
I am organized.
I am creative.
And we are Mormons.
