Reporter 1: These former pizza workers are charged with a crime.
But one is already out of jail. Tonight the mother of one suspect told us
she's embarrassed for her daughter's actions in the online video.
"I told her that you're 31, you're not 16."
Coakley: One suspect's mother called her daughter's actions
"a stupid mistake" and said "hopefully, she learned a lesson."
Faubion: But tonight this home video that's made by the suspects
at the Domino's Pizza in Conover is getting national attention,
and we've learned that the suspects could end up behind bars for several months.
Eyewitness News reporter Ben Thompson was there when one of the suspects
got out of jail.
Thompson: Tonight, 32-year-old Michael Setzer didn't have much to say
after he posted bond and walked out of court in Newton.
Setzer: "Get away from the truck!"
BT: Far different than the way he appeared on this youtube video...
...that disgusted people around the world.
Sticking food up his nose, while 31-year-old Kristy Hammonds recorded the whole thing.
The two were on the job at Domino's in Conover. Both turned themselves in tonight.
They are charged with tampering with food.
Hammond's mother says she won't post the $7500 bond until tomorrow morning.
Until then, she'll remain in jail. Her mom brought her a book to pass the time.
She asked that we don't show her face.
Mom, "I feel very bad, of course, for the company because
I know there's gonna be a lot of people now that's
not going to want to eat there."
BT: We learned Hammonds is a divorced mother of two,
who has a criminal history.
But her mom says she's ready to start again.
"..very remorseful. Um, stupid. Embarrassed. Those were her words."
BT: But first, Hammonds and Setzer might face 4 to 10 months behind bars.
In Newton, Ben Thompson, Channel 9 Eyewitness News.
Faubion: Both suspects are scheduled to make their
first court appearance on Friday.
