You can access the library catalog through the Hartness Library website by clicking on Find Books & Videos.
The Vermont State College library catalog is a listing of all the materials in the various Hartness Library collections,
including the Randolph Center collection, the Williston library collection, as well as Bennington and Brattleboro Vermont Tech. campuses.
You can also use the catalog to request materials from other Vermont State College Libraries
by selecting "All Libraries" from the menu before you search.
You can use the Multiple Library Search feature to find materials in
libraries outside of the Vermont State College system, such as UVM or Darthmouth.
Finally, you can use an advanced search to locate materials by format,
publication year, or search for materials in a specific Hartness Library collection, like the Williston library collection.
When you search for materials, start with basic, simple keywords.
In your results, you'll see which library owns the various books, ebooks, DVDs or videos.
Click on the Details button to check for the availability of print materials, get the call number,
or access electronic resources like eBooks, videos, or other web-based documents online.
Any Vermont Tech student, staff, or faculty member can access online video or eBooks which are owned by the Hartness library.
For print books, check the item record for the call number and the location.
In this case, this book is in the stacks at the Hartness Library in Williston.
If you don't live near Williston, you can simply use the Place Request button to have it sent to you by mail.
This typically takes 3-5 business days.
If the location simply says STACKS, that means the material is in at the Hartness Library in Randolph Center.
If you're not on the Randolph campus, simply use the Place Request button to have the material sent to you.
If you request books from Hartness Library locations other than your own, materials take 3-5 business days to arrive at your house.
If you request books from other Vermont State College libraries, it can take up to 10 days.
Books are typically checked out for four weeks and can be renewed once.
DVDs are checked out for one to two weeks and can not be renewed.
The due date will be stamped on the item, and if you've received the item by mail
regardless of which library it came from, return it to you local Vermont Tech campus
or any Community College of Vermont Academic Center.
To renew materials, use the library catalog and click on the My Account feature
or use the library's 1-800 number and renew by phone.
