I felt alone for so long
being a single Mom,
I didn't feel like I had any help
or anywhere to turn.
And, I kind of did give up on myself.
I'm not going to lie. I did.
I didn't think that I could ever
do anything ever again.

and, she's employed with John Hancock.
The women who come into the program
are women who haven't been
in the workforce for awhile.
Are you familiar with Google Docs?
We have very clear expectations.
You're going to complete 80% of the program,
all your courses,
and you're going to finish
your internship successfully.
No excuses, really either.
We don't, I don't take a lot of excuses, so
no matter what they've been
given on the plate,
two children, six children, whatever.
You have to do it.
You have to do whatever you have to do
to make your life work.
I'm 31 years old.
And, I have 3 children
and I adore them dearly.
In life, we have tons of struggles
as we all know.
We come here, we boo-hoo,
sometimes, we're laughing,
but those struggles are a life lesson.
And, that's what we strive for
to be better for ourselves
and better for our children.
So, we help them recognize
what's really inside of them
and to be strong in who they really are.
Don't ever feel like
you're not worth it
or you're alone.
St. Mary's, honestly, I can say,
was a beacon of hope.
Being here, they gave me
the opportunity and the help
to empower myself,
and I'm happy for that.
We talk about that a lot.
It's them discovering
their own strength.
their own power.

Then we just sit back and
watch them fly,
watch them go.

You inspire this campus
to do great and amazing things
in education.
So, graduates
stand up and clap if you got
what you came here for.
Graduation recognizes the completion of something
but, this is the completion of one thing
and the beginning of another.
It's not over yet.
they have much more to do, but
they're on their way.
I feel like I've accomplished a lot,
and I'm ready to move on for
bigger and better things.
Continue my education at Bunker Hill
so, I'm ready for it. Yeah!
