This is actually my very first project.
I graduated from the Design Academy of Eindhoven in December 2010.
This concept was created during my last year in college.
I was searching for the possibility to portray a food process,
during which I ended up in places such as an apple orchard.
which is essentially a farmyard,
but I wished to reconceptualize it into a recreational space.
Here, it has evolved into a meeting place.
And so, together with the creation of Dré Wapenaar's tree tents,
it delivers all the facilities needed
for spending the night in the open space.
Furniture Design
The project continues to grow every week.
Soon there will be an entire field kitchen,
I am thinking about creating sleep units.
It is constantly growing, that's the difference.
Crates Mobility
The entire design has been derived
from these large-size crates.
What's so special about them,
is that they can be lifted and moved by fork-lift trucks.
I just couldn't change that,
I just thought that was too nice a feature.
Visitors Use of units
I imagine this as part of an entire kitchen furnishing:
a washing unit, a cooking unit, a working unit;
So, as a visitor in an apple orchard,
you are able to cook self-picked apples.
The truck can move your dinner unit under the sun,
and you are all set to enjoy your freshly-picked and cooked apples.
It can't get any more pure than that, I don't think.
