Okay! I think it's recording... Hi everyone! Wow look, for the first time
ever I'm doing a blog via video. It's pretty awesome.
So yeah, this month's blog is basically just going to tell you what I've been up to in
the last four weeks or so. I mean, things are pretty different since
the last time I blogged - a couple of big things have happened.
So yeah, let's get on with it! Big thing one, pretty obvious - the hair. Yeah. Thoughts
guys? I know it's very different to what I was before. My grandma's reaction was pretty
much 'But why? But why, why would you do that? I mean your hair was lovely, why is it orange?
Oh!" Yeah so I think she's still coming to terms
with it. So far I've experienced gingerism as well which as a natural brunette that was
pretty new and pretty weird, One bloke thought it would be hilarious to go "Ha ha ha ha ha
her head looks like a tangerine!" Nah really, really? So yeah I'm experiencing
gingerism firsthand, it's a bit strange. I've also been called Ron Weasley, Vyvvyan from
The Young Ones - if anyone's seen The Young Ones. And also Leeloo from The Fifth Element.
Leeloo is definitely my favourite so far as she is the only one who's actually female.
So yeah, the hair's a big difference! Also ooh! I had a birthday. And it was a pretty
special birthday - I turned 21. So it's now legal for me to buy a drink in every single
country, practically. For my birthday this year I was a bit sad because I didn't think
I could make it all the way back home to Newcastle - incidentally that's where I am now, I'm
spending the weekend at my parents house and yeah, I didn't think I could make it all the
way home so I went to visit a friend of mine in Nottingham because it's sort of halfway
between London and Newcastle. So I went and she surprised me with. It was a pretty great
surprise actually - She got my father, my mother and both my grandparents to drive down
to Nottingham on my birthday and surprise me. And I genuinely had no idea she was going
to do that, I thought we were just going out for dinner. But the surprise didn't quite
work, she got another friends of mine who lives in Nottingham to distract me and we
were sitting in a COSTA coffee, at which point my whole family walked past the window and
I saw them, and I got really, really confused and the surprise was sort of ruined, because
I'd already seen them by the time I got to the restaurant for my surprise party.
It was still nice. I don't know if you can see this, but that's a photo of all of us
in the restaurant. That's my mother, me, my best friend Emily, my granddad and my nana.
So that was lovely. That was infinitely better than my 20th birthday
which started with a fire alarm at three 0'clock in the morning and ended with me crying on
one of my lecturers, because my day had been so bad.
Oh! For my birthday, here's a treat, I got given a pretty special present.
Yeah, so you can expect lots more videos from me as I get more proficient. I got a ukulele!
At the moment I can literally, hang on, I can play the chord of C
[Strums] And not even that very well. But yeah, hopefully
I'm going to teach myself to play and by this time next year I'll be a proficient ukuleleist?
Ukuleler? Whatever you call a person who plays the ukulele.
So yeah, that's a pretty awesome present! Oh! I finished my second year of uni! As of
last Friday I'm completely free for the summer now apart from work commitments. That's pretty
awesome, I'm now technically a third year which is terrifying because now all of the
work I'm doing actually counts for eighty percent of my grade so yeah, wow.
That's terrifying. Another one of my friends pointed out that in ooh, less than eleven
months now we're actually going to have degrees and this time next year we might actually
be graduating. That did scare me quite a lot because I don't know how to not be a student.
I've spent pretty much my whole life so far either being a baby or a student so what comes
next is a rather scary prospect. Yeah we'll move on. My final bit of news is
that I have a boyfriend now! Argh! How great is that?
I don't know if this is going to work very well but if you can see that, that's us there.
We went to see Star Trek at midnight on the ninth of May when it opened and he dressed
up in a science officers' uniform and I had a Spock t-shirt and Spock ears and people
wanted to take photos of us because we were dressed up. I was pretty awesome.
It's really strange now because I'm no longer the sort of, the random outcast of the family
with no significant other. I'm no longer the sort of crazy cat lady who like to drink Gin
and cry on the stairs at parties. Not; Right, if Alex is watching this that
was never me! No I was completely normal before you started to date me. Please continue to
date me! I'm not insane. But yes, it's great, it's really nice. We
have a lot in common. He used to go to Kingston as well so that's how we met and we were friends
first but now we're dating and it's pretty wonderful.
So yeah, all in all life is pretty sweet! This is the end of my first ever video blog.
A lot of firsts this month, I'm pretty proud of myself actually!
And until next time... Ta-rah!
