Erik: What advice do you have for young fashion professionals to stay encouraged from that
transition of unpaid internships into paid entry-level jobs?
Lulu: Stand your ground. (laughs) No, you really just have to stay positive and keep
trying. It’s hard, you know. It’s very easy to be frustrated and discouraged, but
you just have to keep trying. If you really love it, something will open up. The opportunity
will arise, and then you’ll be able to run with it.
Erik: And you’ve seen this time and time again. You went through this yourself.
Lulu: I mean, ideally, I know it’s really hard to transition, but ideally, if you’re
already in a non-paid internship position, and you stay there, and you love the team
there, you will the make the relationships, a job might open up, you know. It’s not
just learning the skills but it’s also making the contacts, which are very important, so
I mean you just stay the course.
