Hello everyone I'm Potter.
This is my first time filming the video.
I'm feel a little nervous.
I write down the things I'm going to talk about.
Hope you won't mind.
I'd like to share why and how I learn Cantonese.
Actually, I didn't understand any Cantonese when I went to Hong Kong last year.
I also thought Hong Kong people speaks Mandarin Chinese.
After being there, I love Hong Kong.
When I back to Taiwan, I start learning Cantonese.
This year I went to HK again and speaking Cantonese during the moon festival. I feel very glad.
I'm going to share the way I learned Cantonese.
First, I watched some Cantonese movie on YouTube.
The time it seems as if I understand what they are taking about but the movie without subtitles .
I changed to watch the movie with Cantonese subtitles.
At the beginning, it's exhausting to pause the video all the time and find out the meaning of words.
The movie of Stephen Chow is especially difficult.
However, it has rapid progress to see the movie with Cantonese subtitles.
I also subscribed Apple Daily (a media in HK) on facebook.
They are different from the other medium.
They often use Cantonese subtitles but written language.
Take "daa zim" for example, they don't use "caap deoi".
It's not only really helpful to learn Cantonese
but has chance to learn more from the comments below. (But has many dirty words~~)
Now I watch HK TV series or listen to the broadcast in my free time, to prevent my Cantonese ability degenerates.
Motivation plays an important part in learning language.
I have been learning Cantonese for a year.
Now I can understand what others are talking about roughly.
And others can also realize what I say.
I had lived in Kaohsiung for more than ten years.
I still don't understand Taiwanese......
Some people might has questions that do I have to buy books?
There are a lot of resources on the Internet.
I think buying books is wasting money and unnecessary.
The books are not always relate to our lives.
Thanks for watching :) bye bye~
