Hi! I'm Brandy, and I'm at the Diridon Transit Center in downtown San Jose
to tell you about something that's gonna put the fun back in your commute:
Bay Area Bike Share
[Music]
Remember how you felt when you get that first bicycle as a kid?
Well, that's how we're feeling at VTA as we gear up for the launch of this new,
great way to commute around town.
VTA has been looking at ways to make your first and last mile commute
much more easy (and fun!) and we think Bike Share is the way to go.
Bike Share is great for short distance trips, running errands, and -- best of all --
it makes public transit a much more convenient option.
Starting August 29th, you will have a chance to try out
the new Bay Area Bike Share program,
developed by VTA and six of our regional partners.
As part of the Bay Area Bike Share, VTA is deploying 280 bicycles and 28 kiosks
throughout Santa Clara County.
This will provide 24 hours a day, seven days a week
shared bicycle access for the cities of San Jose, Mountain View, and Palo Alto.
Bike stations will be located at major transit hubs,
including the San Jose Diridon,
San Antonio,
Mountain View, and Palo Alto Caltrain stations.
In San Jose, destination kiosks have already been installed at
popular downtown locations, like
San Pedro Square,
Adobe,
the Convention Center,
San Jose State,
City Hall,
and Japantown.
Bicycle kiosks are also featured in popular destinations in the downtown areas
of Mountain View and Palo Alto.
Here's how it works:
If you're a new customer, go to a Bike Share kiosk
and use your credit card to receive a printed passcode
that will allow you to unlock a bicycle from any station.
Annual members can skip the kiosk by using their membership key they receive
upon sign-up.
Grab a bicycle, and ride it anywhere.
Then, end your ride by returning your bicycle to any of the stations around town.
Rates to join Bay Area Bike Share are $88 dollars for an annual pass,
$22 dollars for a three day pass,
and $9 dollars for a daily pass.
To learn more, go to: BayAreaBikeShare.com
and be sure to follow Bay Area Bike Share on Twitter and Facebook.
VTA's excited about this new commute option and we hope you are, too!
So join us on August 29th, as we launch the first
Bay Area Bike Share program in Santa Clara County.
