Hi, I'm Marcus.
I'm 28 years old and my hometown is Berlin,
in Germany.
Dragon boating is a sport
I have been practising for 12 years now, since 2001.
Since I have started working,
I can't live without sport.
After three or four days, I get impatient,
I need to do something.
I think it's important to see how far you can go,
what you are capable of.
For example, when I go to my training centre,
20 km away from Berlin, I go by bike
and in the summer, I always try to beat my own record to go there.
I always try to push myself to the next limit.
I don't know why, I just like to challenge myself.
I discovered dragon boating when I was 16 years old.
You have 20 guys who need to do exactly the same thing you are doing,
at the same time, with the same energy
and the same strength.
It's not about being the 20 best guys
in the country,
but about achieving the best harmony.
I think what dragon boat gives you
is this incredible team feeling.
My project has to do with dragon boating, surprisingly.
I want to support the team
because it's mostly just young people
who don't have money to go to the championships.
We get no support from the government.
It's hard to find sponsors.
I would definitely finance the team
for one year
to go to all the championships
like the European and the World Championships,
so that the guys would not have to worry
about getting the money to do all this.
It is sad to have to leave someone behind
just because he doesn't have the financial possibilities
to come with you.
