That Simple House
I miss you
In that simple house
you told me
To be careful
and not suffer from things in this world
To be a good boy
To work hard
To honor my father's name
And never be a vagrant
It was not yet daytime
and you said to me
"God will bless you and keep you, if you keep Him with you"
I looked in your eyes
I kissed your hand
I said "Amen" and my embrace made you hear my heart
My life... My life....
And walking down the street
My father close to me
Looking with tenderness
A tear dampened my jean jacket
All of my luggage
was on the station bench
It was love, courage
the blessings of my father, faith and a guitar
And in the big city
Sadness and joy
A huge longing
And a loneliness previously unknown
And as time passed
I understood
His every word
on the morning I left
My life.... My life ...
My life... My life....
And spring came
And the garden flowers
filled with perfume
the letters that arrived from you for me
But today with smiles
we may recall it
But I always remember
the emotion and I feel like crying
My life... My life...
My life...
My life...
Memories
